Timber posts with acrylic panel – how would you make them?
Hi All
I am doing some signs which need to be a timber post with acrylic panel. There will be some finger signs with a single post and panel out to one side, and some interpretive panels which will be 2 posts with 1 or 2 panels between them.
So how would you make these? I was going to get some 100mm pressure-treated redwood and have a 10mm groove cut into them to let the panels into, then fix with screws and cover the screws with redwood plugs, but I am wondering if there is a better option as my local timber supplied can only put in a 30mm groove which doesn’t really leave enough space to drill the fixing holes. If I drilled a 5mm hole it would only be about 12.5mm in from the edge of the post and panel which in my mind isn’t enough.
I then wondered about using some kind of stainless steel panel fixing but they are pretty expensive. Does anyone have any experience of this type of job?
Kind regards
John
