    Hey Guys,

We got our new (new to us) used PC60 in. I’m having my doubts about how well it survived shipping. It looks like the UPS people stacked it on the control end and the front panel hinge is slightly bent and rubs on the front cover when you open it.

Also, we’re missing 2 of the little plastic black round pieces that turn the ribbons on the purple cartridge holders.

My biggest concern is that when the paper lever is lifted and I try to hit the left arrow on the control panel, the wires wheel to the left but the head doesn’t move. Am I missing something simple here or was the head knocked lose from the cable?

I’ll be taking this to Beacon in New Jersey (here in the States) to have them take a look at it but I was hoping to get some advice from fellow owners.

If pictures would help, I’d be happy to take some.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan Stark

    Here’s some pics:

Note the missing missing black piece on the cartridge holder.

This is a picture of the hinge on the right front door hinge. Note that it is bent slightly inwards. The door still opens but it rubs on the housing.

This is another picture of the right hinge.

This is a picture of just behind the right hinge. Note the overlapping housing. This is what makes me believe the machine was laid on it’s end while being shipped.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks guys,

    Jom

Notify in writing of damage and reject it immediately. Let the suppliers argue the toss with the shippers. You’re already developing a headache!

I agree with Peter – these machines are delicate , you will be lucky if you have working heads or can indeed achive head alignment etc.
The cart changing mechanism requires alignment too etc.
You might be lucky and have minimal damage , you can be unlucky and have a boat anchor!!!!
Check the carton , IE if that is b—d up then the it’s the shippers , if not , you might have been sold a pup!!!

    Well,

There’s no question that this damage was done in shipping. Already talked to the freighter. We insured the machine so any repairs will come out of that.

I appreciate the help guys! Can’t wait to get this machine in working order…

Same happened to me. I bought a PC60 from Victory design in the UK. It arrived and nothing worked on it. It was completely warped as it had been dropped severely.

They collected it the next day and replaced it with a brand new PC600. I think I got a good deal…. 😉

Good luck with your insurance claim!

claiming your insurance and the thing hasnt turned a wheel?
like peter said this isnt your problem… let them sort it out or get your money back..
tell them you want money now! if anything, they may send you a new one
at the same cost, like gav got…
fragile is not the word for this type of machine.. alignment etc is everything! save yourself a headache and get the cash or a new model as way of compensation.. and for god sakes mate.. dont let your insurance cover their error.. they will hand you a bill to fix their machine. only for your insurance to pay it.. 😮

    best of luck mate 😉
