Hi, wondering if anyone has done this before and can it be done? I have been asked by a customer to help him do a dodgy one on a local ferry firm.
The idea is that this guy takes his Daihatsu hi-jet panel van on a ferry once maybe twice a week, the ferry company charge him an extra £25.00 just because it’s a commercial vehicle even tho he uses it domestically. To try to save that money, he would like us to print him some blacked out windows so from the outside it looks like an MPV.
I am worried that I will not be able to make the windows look 3D (im thinking they will need rubber seals etc….) and he will end up paying our printing/fitting costs and the ferry company will still charge him for a commercial vehicle and just say "nice try".
Do you think this could be done?
    Could anyone please help???

    Kind Regards
    Neil

So you want us to advise you on how to break the law???? 😮

    OK, i’ll give it a bash! 😉 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

to be honest mate… i think it would be a bit of a big gamble and i doubt it would go unnoticed. maybe the odd time but i would recon more times than not he would still be charged.

    or….

why not print the drivers window too but with a very elderly lady sitting driving and try get a pensioners discount too?

    ok, ill shut up now… 😕 :lol1:

    Basically yes! 😉

We used to have a LWB, HT, Transit but it had 1 side window and we said it was a carravanette. We saved £50 each trip so it’s one of them that could work and save this guy a fortune or end up costing him more then fitting proper windows.

I think its more about the image for the windows. I’m not saying you have to print seats but blacked out windows could work. I have stated my conserns so the ball is in his court.

I appreciate your help guys, thank you!

    I really like Rob’s suggestion.
    😉
There is a lake near here where you can only operate watercraft with certain size motors. (not too big) A lot of people peel the 50s off of their motor cover and get 20s made.
I have to turn people away who want this service. What if there was an accident and it came back on me?
Your case is a bit different, tho.
    Love….Jill

The Steam Packet that sails to the Isle of Man used to give you a discount if it was a camper, but they have now stopped it. But people used to get flat tinted, glass window panels, and using the glass silicon adhesive, glue these on the sides, look legal, never heard of any falling off, and when you sell the van, remove the glass, (not to sure how they got them off).
