Hey everyone, ive been wondering the last few weeks about going for a new printer. iv currently got a SP540i thats been great, but just a little slow. Also not got 100% confidence doing long banners or vinyl prints… there were a few printers i was thinking about, one being the xc540 or the mimaki jv33.. ive now made my mind up that seperates may work better for me. The Jv33 was recommended and is said that its far superior to the roland sp series… anyone out there backing that? does anyone have one of these machines?? Id love to have something as quick as a seiko 64 colourpainter that i used to work on before.. is it close to this 😀

Ben, sorry can’t help with what machine to go for as I don’t have a printer myself but if I was in the market for one then as well as asking on the forum I would be looking to get a demo or 2 of the machines I was looking to buy so you can see first hand what the speed and quality are like.

Like martin, I dont have a printer but I’d certainly go for the JV33 as most customers I work for swear by them!

I would have thought the Roland RS-640, VS range using cmyk x 2 or as a six colour, or the SolJet would be the machines to compare against the JV33 if you are looking for a fast printer.

Mimaki all the way, had a Roland now got a Mimaki. Print quality, build quality both better on Mimaki. In my opinion.

    Kind regards

    Russell.

    Mimaki – made in japan

    Roland – made in china

    Says it all 🙂

I’ve got a mimaki jv3 130…had issue with it purely as i bought from a supposed dealer which it wasent…some people may know who i mean

anyway machines are good, but not cheap to repair…

also i would get a 64inch machine, works out better for larger prints i find the 54inch too small for some jobs…

    quote Jon Marshall:

    Mimaki – made in japan

    Roland – made in china

    Says it all 🙂

It may say it all but it is incorrect…………..Roland are in fact made in Japan !!

    Hi

Haven’t had direct use of a Mimaki but we print 100’s of metres a week on an RS640 and it is very very reliable and the print quality is superb. No regular maintenance save for a quick clean round the heads every now and again and once in a blue moon have needed to wipe the encoder strip.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi there,
lots of printing on a JV33 and a JV3. Great machines with great quality and colour. Need to keep them clean and maintain them though. I would only replace my JV3 with another Mimaki. Same for the plotters also.
