  • The Vinyl Corporation???

Posted by Kev Mayger on December 21, 2005 at 10:56 am

Bit of a rant i’m afraid. I ordered some vinyl Last Friday from The Vinyl Corporation & paid by credit card. The payment has been collected & the vinyl hasn’t been delivered and won’t be due to the fact that it hasn’t been dispatched & they have now gone on holiday. I called their courier company and they have told me that nothing was collected from The VC going to my post code. How bloody frustrating is this!!!

    A very annoyed.

That is not good business at all. They’d be getting a rocket from me on their return for sure… if they come back of course… 🙄

    Kev…
Must admit I would be pulling my hair out too….
I must admit I have used the vinyl corp on a few occasions and usually find them pretty good. I got their Christmas card and noticed the closing date and thought it was a little early…
I think you may struggle to get a delivery before Xmas from most places… I hate this time of year

i didnt get a bloddy xmas card !!! and only found out by chance that they were on their last day on friday, hence spending more than i should have, just in case, i ordered mine on friday and got it monday, all my vinyl comes from them as on the whole, they offer a good service, though i have had a couple of probs with late delivery before now, a mix up on postcodes, but i’ve no idea whether that was VC or the courier at fault.

Sorry to hear you had probs Kev

VC left a message on my answerphone and then phoned me the next day to make sure I knew they were packing up early on the 16th for a long break

Seems a better system would be to post or email…. but then I guess by phoning they’ll be thinking of taking a last order!

The gorgeous Sue rang me last week as well to say they were closing early this year, gave Sue order for 2 full logs of conform & received them next day as usual. If it wasn’t for opening a/c with europoint & going over to 751c would still be using them for mactac9800. Danny has always been a good bloke to deal with, except on a Monday as he doesn’t do Mondays

i think its very easy to miss/forget a customer like this. not really fair to blame supplier, more on the member of staff trying to get finished up and knowing they dont need to worry till they get back.

this doesnt help you of course, & there is nothing worse! 😕

if it were me, ide call another supplier, get the goods pronto & demand a refund when holidays are over. if you dont have an account with other suppliers im sure they will sell you what you need if you are paying there and then by card.

Kev, quite agree with Rob, don’t blame the company blame the staff.
I have dealt with & been to see them over a number of years now, they have always been very helpful.

The only trouble I have had with VC is over prices, I have agreed prices in the past with the boss & next time i order the prices have gone back up so i phone & complain then wait for a credit note. O and 1 more complaint, they insist on putting the invoice inside the boxes of tape / vinyl so if you don’t open the boxes for a few weeks then you don’t see the invoice. Only firm i know who don’t send bill in post, most annoying when i have phoned & complained about it & they say it wont happen again but it does.

A company like that is no good to me.

For instance, we had a good customer ring today with an order which he wanted completed by Friday. It would be no good if I couldn’t get the materials.

I need availability and reliability, on which note, Amari haven’t done themselves any favours by failing to deliver today. Fair enough, it was only a small order, 10 metres of 1220, but normally we order much more and I would have thought we deserve a bit of service on the odd occasions we need less than a full roll.

I would think an order of 10 mts has made them more profit then a full roll John, especially at the prices i get quoted for small amounts like that.

That’s why i always seem to end up ordering a full roll even though i know it will be on the shelf till i can convince a customer that they need that colour 😀

Nobody else would want this colour John. 😀

We have only ever used it for this one customer, and he doesn’t have that many vans.

I agree .. its not so much the company as a whole in situations like this but more the staff. We have never used VC so cant comment at all on them or their products. But very annoying when you are expecting goods and nothing arrives .. we had this a few times with one suppler and it was always when we really needed the stock for a rush job 🙄

We are having a bit of an issue with Amari at the moment too ….. nothing to do with the branch in Cardiff or the staff or the products …. they are great, really nice peeps!! .. Its more with their accounts peeps …. we paid, have confirmation from our bank about it. The accounts peeps just keep saying we cant find anything on our system … and then when we tried to chase it up last week we couldn’t talk to anyone as their offices were closed while they were moving!! 🙄 Very annoying especially as they held up a delivery over it and as usual the stuff on order was needed for a job that was going out in a hurry.

    😀

Edited: just to change my spelling as it was really bad :lol1:

I have always had good service with TVC and dealt with Carol. It does seem that when they are busy however, they become less ‘reachable’. They must have been slow about a month ago and called once a week to see if we needed anything.

the vinyl corp were our first suppliers sue was very pleasent and help full
how ever the prices grew dramatically and the prices in the booklet never match wat they quoted on fone when ordering and we told em sort prices or were off as they were very uncompetitive
we get the same stuff from victory for a fraction of the price of tvc

as for blame the staff ,wat use is that the staff dont care its not there money
and any way the company chose the staff so the buck stops with the company if u ask me .

i understand what you say here mate, but…
should a company be judged on a one off incident due to how a member of staff deals with a customer? or should a bit of come and go, be considered when dealing with a supplier, national onesespecially?

A businessman I have had a lot of dealings with, who employs a couple of hundred staff says ‘ Any company is only as good as its worst employee’

A good thing to remember if you plan on employing staff.

TVC are getting bad press because of the staff. The staff are the company I feel.

Not being too critical here, but just thought I’d throw my 2c’s in 😉

Personally I think its not good to slag a company off, unless they have had at least been given the right to reply to the complaint, and give their side to the story.

A company is just that, all the members of staff should represent their company in the best manner, from the directors down to the trainees.

sorry guys, when you find a filtered suppliers website/name like that, you can be sure it is not for any other reason than the boards were being spammed by a member of their staff in the past. if we get “continually” spammed, by more than one registered account. instead of chasing them all over the place we filter the name. as you have saw though the link still works…
