I know of about 20 UKSG members that are attending The Sign Show on Wednesday.
We also have 10 UKSG members at our table at the sign industry awards, that is on the evening of the Wednesday.

There are many more of course, i am just mentioning this number as they have been in contact with me.

For a show that has had over 8k of people applying on line to visit, today was very quiet in terms of attendance.

Not a bad venue though, and the security etc are all polite unlike the NEC wannabe cops, parking is easy and unlike the NEC you are only 5 mins max walking distance at the most from the hall.

Looking forward to seeing more of you guys an gals tomorrow 🙂

    8k people applied, or invited?

i ask because i never applied, but two weeks ago i was called to see if i wanted tickets. i suggested that the chance of me going was very remote…. "we’ll send you some anyways" was the reply!

Well I hope for exhibitors sake there are more in attendance for the second 2 days.
    My experiences:
Parking easy (apart from the fact that due to being in a works van I was sent to the exhibitors car park right round the back).
It opened 30 minutes late due to – you’ve guessed it – Health & Safety!
However, on entering I found that the organisers still hadn’t provided power to some of the stands.
An announcement about the delay would have been great but they preferred to leave everyone out in the foyer just wondering what was going on.
By post lunchtime Tuesday it was pretty quiet.
No queues for food (perhaps due to prices).
No problem getting a seat for lunch break.
You could stand and watching vehicle wrapping in 3 areas and be the only one watching.
Ashby’s had a massive stand with about 24 bar stools, videos and pictures but NO products on display.
The seminars by Cadlink where very hit & miss and more in the line of what do you want to know and we’ll show you now.
Unfortunately the portable PA device was out of use for some time and with the usual noisy router in the background made it all a bit of a struggle.
SMP had a great area full of bits and pieces all laid out as though someone used to set out market stalls 😉
Some stands just weren’t ready on opening and even later in the day still looked as though half of the stand hadn’t turned up.
The guy on the Price-it guide stand really should clean his hands (I can only think he changed the oil on his car in the car park).
I’m afraid the Signtrade rep was never going to get me to stay on his stand whilst he was chewing gum when trying to sell his stuff.
All in all it was worth the 2.5 hours drive I suppose as there were some exhibitors and products on show which weren’t at Sign UK.
For a first time show really good event. I would like to have seen the hands-on "Pub" sign area more centrally placed rather than the far rear corner.
    What’s new?
The myriad of products now available using LED’s which are now designed for LED’s rather than being adapted.

    Hi,
just got back from the show. It’s only 5 minutes away for me. 😀

Not bad, a bit quiet…….exhibitors tend to jump on you a bit !

Picked up a load of brochures and bought some bits to practice gold leaf work with 😮

Stopped for a coffee and watched Cheryl, Robert and others meet up at the coffee station in the middle of the arena.

All in all…….worth a look, but not sure I’d be happy driving miles to visit it though !

Just got back myself traffic was murder, It was nice to be able to walk round & speak to the suppliers without interruptions. Spoke with Mike at SMP for nearly 1\2 hour & he was more that pleased to pull displays apart & explain how they where trying different things with LEDS plus routing & ali fabrication. Bumped into Dave Rowlands & briefly to Lorraine Clinche & other half (i Believe). Didn’t manage to see any other members unfortunately but good luck to everyone who has been entered into the sign awards.

I’ve been back in for about an hour. I thought it was great.

Easy access from the M6. No queues to get into the car park. No hike across miles of barren windswept car park. No fighting through hordes of people going the the Clothes Show exhibition. No queue to get into the hall. Much nicer atmosphere than the NEC.

Although it was good not being crowded, and people having time to speak, the only thing I would have liked to see is a few more visitors because that’s the only thing that will ensure that this show keeps running.

Well I am back… now off to Cambridge, I knew this week was going to get busier for us so with some other reasons I was not going to stay over. I spent enough at SignUK :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

So, in all I started at SignIT and decided to actually go round each of the stands and just talk to them regardless if I was interested or not in what they had to sell, hoping to bump into members on the way. So I saw Debbie/Nigel at the Graphytp stand and Nigel never did offer any drink LMAO, reserved for spending customers I suspect lol He told me about H&S and vinyl onto the isles.

About that time I bumped into Kev Flowers who has now promised to put up a photo. haha.. then I wondered on with bags getting heavier. Later at Ashby’s big bar (copied from UKSB Bar and I know Ashby will be reading this), I met up with Greame and spent some time drinking orange juice. After finishing the hall I saw Brian sharing a stand with Noel, but they were busy selling dodgy looking pirated DVD cases 🙄

Also bumped into the Clinch duo

Finished up the hall, it was about 4pm, I managed to go to almost each stand and spend some time which good.

Tried to find some more then found Greame

Well, where was everyone??? I was there!

Oh I saw Go Girl driving away from me, waived in her mirror but she didn’t see me.. never mind

And finally we saw the Gerber ION working and for sale!

Sign Show in my thoughts is a small hall, I don’t know if it could get any bigger as I don’t know if they got any more halls, but was seriously lacking digital printers which is why I went, but saying that more small type suppliers had an opportunity to advertise and get their monies worth, the Wednesday was a better day as the Tuesday was rubbish, if Coventry keep their prices low then I think it will attract sign makers who don’t want to see digital kit as much.

I went on Tuesday but was dead impressed. It was a little quiet and slightly annoying being hounded by the sales guys but all in all a good learning experience and great for making contacts.
As a relative newbie I found it great, esp the wrapping demos which, like you say, were almost one to one at some points.
Generally a nice easy going day, easy parking – and lets not forget – FREE.

You obviously didn’t walk around the outside of Ashby’s stand did you Peter, as if you had of done you would have found a vast range of Ashby’s products in the flesh!

All in all a good first show in my opinion.

To be honest, no I didn’t!
A bit like putting all your shop goods out on the pavement then letting people in the back door.
    Either that or I’m going senile… 😮

I exhibited with GroundPlug and really enjoyed the exhibition. It was a bit quiet the first day and we didn’t get as many leads as Signs & Digital, however the quality of visitors for us was great, we got to spend time showing how all the GroundPlug worked. We even got an order!!

The organisers put a lot of effort into looking after us, even though we were one of the smallest suppliers – and all the Ricoh Arena staff were really helpful. I would definitely look to exhibit there again (thanks to everyone that came on the stand and said hi!)

I’m now sitting down (after having just unloaded the van) with a green tea and catching up on all the post/emails/magazines and will get back to everyone who wanted more information over the next few days.

Yes quiet, but I had the time to relax and talk with the suppliers. Spent ages with Ashby, and their angle was passing info rather than hard sell. I had time to ask in-depth questions and then get full explanations. Tried my hand at gilding and will now get more and practice. Also had a relaxed demo on dye-sub………Definitely be back next year.

My tickets arrived on Friday, so…erm….that’s no good is it? Seeing as the show had finished the day before.

    Ah well.

I actually registered twice and even started to get double emails because of it and my tickets never arrived, got to the show and they didn’t even have me on the system so had to stand and fill in the form 😕 👿

Enjoyed it anyway (the show, not filling in the form)

I’ll probably end up getting the emails in triplicate now 😮
