  • The secret behind the registration marks on the Cadet 30

    Hi,
Wonder if any one can shed some light on this one.

I have a cadet 30 and a canon W-6400p. I would like to print high resolution images on the canon, laminate and then cut on the cadet.

I use Troop 5.1 and it supports both the canon and the cadet however under “Registration marks” the option “Generated by printer” only appears when the currect selected unit is set to the cadet.

I would like to print the cadets registration marks manually on the canon so the cadets magic eye will recognise them, has anyone ever done this and if so whats the secret as i have matched the images but the cadet wont recognise the marks.

Any help or guidence would be highly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Mav

yes done this as a test to see if i can go from my epsons to my soljet for future use.

if you draw in the marks in to the design it does work.

problems found marks to close to the material edge must be well inside and dont forget to leave 120mm of material free at the btm of the design else the machine thinks its out of material whilst finding the btm dots.

Thanks chris for the speedy reply. Ive tried copying thr marks exactly but the cadet does not recognise them, they seem identical to the ones printed by the cadet. There is a small L shape (look like align or crop marks) are these important as i did not reproduce these.

Also is the colour important ive reproduce them in 100% black and not as a rich black.

Did you do your tests using a Cadet 30??

    Why?

The cadet can print at 1440dpi isn’t that high enough?

Are you really needing better prints than the Cadet can do, I know it’s not as good as a photo printer but it’s still very good.

Not sure if this will help but if you get a Graphtec cutter with the optical eye you can do this very easily as it’s designed to recognise a special shape as a registration mark.

Have you asked BP? They are usually very helpfull.
