  • the pound symbol disappeared on pc how do i get it back?

I had to do a windows reinstall and it went well but some of the characters are wrong on the keyboard.

I Know there is a way to choose which keys produce which characters but I’m trying to get a leaflet produced in a hurry.

I know that there the richest most powerful country in the world but a dollar sign just ain’t gonna do the job.

Anyone know how I can get keyboard sorted out, the @ has also swapped places with the ".

Sounds like you have youre regional settings wrong…In the control panel you will need to look at your ‘Regional Options’ and ‘Keyboard’ options. Chances are these are set to US.

The £ symbol can be inserted as a symbol and the @ is above the 2

The regional settings are to english(uk) Greame.

I may have misled with my first post.

The pound symbol hasn’t been replaced with the dollar symbol I just meant that I couldn’t get away with using it.

my pound sign has been replaced with the # and the # is now a \.

I just tried my \ and its fine so I have two of those (I hope anyone has the patience to understand this).

I have no pound symbol whatsoever!

On this keyboard its a " above the 2 and the @ is above the ‘. 😕

If you get a small screwdriver, the key caps ping off quite easily and move them round to suit. :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

The reason I mentioned the Keyboard option is that I used to have a US purchased laptop and knew the keyboard layout was just as you explained earlier. The £ was a pain all the time and required a keyboard shortcut.

You could try using the alt key.
Press it in and type 0163
    That gives you £.

Remember to use the number pad and not the number keys above the letters…….some reason it does not work

    Tks everyone! much appreciated.

There’s always an unexpected hurdle, even on the wee jobs.

Its a laptop i’m on Graeme you and Nick were correct ‘regional and language options-languages-details-remove all except uk english, and then a reboot’. 😀

    I’m back producing the £££££’s 😕

Tks Jill Ive got to be carefull with those tricks, If I find a new trick like that I’m liable to be there typing in random codes all afternoon to see what happens. 😉
