• Thanks Marcella

That poem that you posted yesterday ‘ If it should be ‘ is one of the most moving things I have ever read. I have sent it to a couple of friends who have recently had to have their dogs put down and they have both said that although it made them blart their eyes out it also made them feel a whole lot better about having to make the dreadful decision.

I have tears in my eyes as I type this just looking at my little mate (Shithead) sitting by my side. He only four years old so with luck he will be with me for many years to come. He goes everywhere with me Office/Workshop/Van/Pub, he’s the best apprentice ever.

    Once again thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    thanks for the thanks! 😉

I handed a copy of that into our local vet. They have printed out and pinned to their wall, some people do take comfort in that poem. But yes, tears blind you as you read it.

But what I want to know is, is Shithead really your dogs name :lol1:

    Hi Marcella

I can’t find your poem, could you post it again please. As you can see from the picture I have a dog, new to it though.

    Cheers

    Tears here too Marcella.

Thanks for that. Must confess that when you posted it originally I couldn’t bring myself to open it.

Reading Peters post made me do it though.

    Cheers

I Know what you mean Shane, it took me several go’s to get to the end of that poem. First time I saw I read the first 2 lines and gave up! 🙁

I feel better now Marcella, the wife just read it so she is in tears too. The kids think we are both nuts!

Won’t let them read it tho, they both love animals, and having 4 cry babies in the house is more than I’d be able to stand 😉

    Very nice Marcella.

Here is mine I wrote for our dog we lost two years ago, still can’t read it without tears.

It was really strange how our other dog took on the characteristics of the lost one, even though he is the oldest.

    Marcella,

Yes his name really is Shithead, my favorite film is The Jerk with Steve Martin and his dog was called that.

I have great fun when little old ladies go up to him and whilst picking up his name tag say “and what’s your name then?” when they have read it they they normally wander off speechless shaking their head.

Oh by the way he is a Smooth Fox Terrier.

    Peter

    That’s funny Peter.
My vet sends me letters “Shadow is due for his vacinations”. It would be funny to get a letter that says “Shithead is due…”. :lol1:

:lol1: :lol1: :lol1: that’s great Peter! And little Shithead is really cute. (now there’s a sentence I thought I’d never say!) He looks a bit like a Jack Russell.
The Jerk is a classic. I watched The Man with Two Brains the other night, another one of Steve Martins classics.

Yes thanks again Marcella, Anne and I were both in tears when reading it.

I attach a photo of Ky when he was a puppy – unfortunately we only had him from 9 months old, but the previous owner gave us this photo.

Any one else got any really cute puppy photos.
