is there an easy way to do out line text or is the only way to use a font of that style i have tried loads of ways and i bet there is an easy one

What program are you using??
In most sign program you can assign an outline in that module. Set the offset you want, see if you like what you get, and then mark the text and outline together output and weed the bits you want to save.
maybe you are using Corel or Adobe Illustrator? Let us know I am sure someone can help you out.
