  • Terms and Conditions Need Them? I say we do!

Posted by Martin Lemiesz on January 18, 2018 at 6:15 pm

I have been meaning to get terms and conditions in place to protect the business for a while – but I don’t want some random sentences downloaded from the net. I want these to be as much apropriate as possible all angles and tipical problems and pitfallss. It would be best to divide in to sections such as placing orders, financial, pre production and the. internal and external signage, installation, warranty and exceptions…

Could we all pull together and prepare these for benefit of us all? Or perhaps chip in couple £ and get pro’s to get these preped for us? Who’s up for it?

Only today client tried to claim he’s money back on a sign which he installed himself and blew away 2 days after install…#bangshead

    Hi Martin
Much as I can relate to your comments, generic terms and conditions would never work.
Each business on here are on different levels from each other, some are trade only suppliers, some cover all aspects of print manufacturing design and installation, some are sole traders, others have multiple staff, and in some cases multiple branches.
Each business will deal with its clients how they see fit, some already have terms in place, others choose to bypass.
If you feel that your business is in need of the protection of terms and conditions then I think it would be wise to devise your own with the help of a professional organisation.
Many people will create their own terms without knowing the full legalities of what they have created, which can and has led to countless lawsuit over the years.

Interesting thread though, will be interested to see others comments [emoji106]

Try a search on the forum Martin, has been discussed a few times over the years & some members posted there T&C’s for others to download & use, should at least be a starting point for your own 😆 😆

While we believe in some terms and conditions, we have some on our artwork layout.

I think you have to Becareful not to bog yourself down with them.

I’ve been trading over 20 years and have never had a written set of terms and conditions as I vary these according to the customer I am dealing with. Many larger companies impose their own terms and conditions which you can either accept (and keep their business) or choose to impose your own payment terms (and risk losing their business).

Maybe just say written terms and conditions available on request – then tailor them according to the circumstances under which they have been requested :awkward:

We have a general business terms, that covers things, like payments, delivery, etc etc.

Each quote gets a small set of pre-written terms, such as vans, signage, that expand on this, and we even add to it when necessary for other situations.

I know what terms and conditions I’d like to put down, if we do Vehicle Graphics, is the customer has to pay a soiling charge if the Vehicle is not washed, we’re starting to charge £15 as we have to take the Vehicle to the car wash sometimes!
