Emily left for a World Challenge trip to Morocco early this morning. As she will be trekking in the middle of nowhere, there is no contact whatsoever until she’s back in London a week on friday.
The school have emergency contact details for every trekker, obviously, and we were told there would be no contact unless there is a problem and they have no choice but to call us.
Anyway …………. I’m a panic merchant as it is, especially when it comes to my only child! (who was mortified at me crying and wailing like an eejit as she left)
Just a few minutes ago the phone rang and the caller asked for Mrs Thomson. I said yes how can I help, she said
‘This is Greenfaulds High School, please hold the line I have a call for you’
at this point, everything from an accident to sudden illness is racing through my head and I’m about to pass out! The short time it took her to transfer me to whomever was wanting to speak to me felt like an eternity.
‘Is that Mrs Thomson? Mrs Marcella Thomson?’ …………. I managed to squeak a yes……………… ‘Just to let you know you won a raffle prize with the tickets you purchased at the schools award ceremony last week’

Well MY GOD! What a panic for nothing but their timing was cr@p! I’m still feeling sick! 😮

I really do sympathise Marcella. The timing was not very good at all and I would have had the same reaction to a phonecall from the school as you did. Thankfully it was nothing but good news.

I’m sure your daughter will have a great time so try not to worry – and she’ll be back before you know it 😀

I got a similar call from our school yesterday…’Mr Drew, we need to talk to you about your son…’ I don’t think I’m going to win a prize somehow 🙁

Your daughter will be fine Marcella… If it were my daughter tho, I wouldn’t be any different….

    Dave you nutter 😀

I’m with Marcella on this one, my son went away on Monday for the first time so a call like that would put the wind up me.

Well, I can sit and chuckle, because I’ve been through it.

Although, having said that, even though ours are 28 and 25, we still worry for their wellbeing.

The joys of parenthood I’m afraid Marcie. Get used to it. 😀

And I’m sure the candles will be useful.
