take a guess……
Posted by Marcella Ross on December 6, 2005 at 10:42 amA customer of mine gave me sizes for a sign which he wanted vinyls for. He’s a art and design grad who designs signs, menus, letterheads etc.
Anyway, God know how he manages as he doesn’t seem to have much of a clue about sizes.
take a guess at this, what do you think he meant when he gave me a size of 2.2.5ft? I asked him to confirm and he said yeah, that’s right 2.2.5ft.Go on have a guess……..
Answer to follow………..

I wish I was! thank God I only give him the vinyls and no fitting is ever involved, I’m sure there must be times where they don’t fit because he can’t measure anything.

how about 20.5″…. honestly!
yet more proof that a uni degree means ‘squat’ if they don’t have common sense to go with it 🙄

I dont know how old he is but shouldnt he be working in millimetres or centimetres? I wonder how many of us work in inches and feet and how many work in metric, I do both :lol1:

strictly mm here. Had a guy ring today that wanted a sign with ‘letters A4 size to fit on a board 6 foot by 3 foot.’
I said the letters are 297mm high, but could not work out quickly what 6 x 3 was in mm. By the time I found a calculator, I realised that his letters were way to big to fit the board. He didn’t believe me. Finally talked him around to a smaller size text, to be told he thought I was way too expensive.. Wasted 15 minutes on the phone.
The other thing I hate is when thay say 3 feet by 100mm. Wish they would stick to one or the other.

27″ was what I thought he meant. I asked him to go and measure it again…. thankfully. But HIS customer measured it for him! 😀
I always work in mm but when I try to visualise the size of something I do it in ft and inches! 😮
