has anyone joined the british sign association. If so what are the real benefits?….and Rob, if we are bigger than any franchise, can we approach the bsa to get preferential membership rates….if it’s worth joining…I don’t know.

To be honest Joe I don?t really know.
Our company was going to join them 4-5 years ago but decided against it. Exactly why im not sure. I think at the time we thought it catered for the large companies only. Benefits would be in the form of advice on technical and legal matters etc. all very well if you need it day in day out. We didn?t think we did & thought the, then £250 a year price tag a bit steep.
But like I said mate that was a long time ago and lots have joined so I think there must be more to it than that.
I also spoke to someone a few weeks back he is very ?up there? with the sign industries high flyers. He said that the uksg are actually thinking on advising their members to join the uksigngroup.com to benefit from group buy & the like.
Sounds good if it happens. We can only Waite and see. 😛

    Just a thought…..
Couldn’t we be a similar sort of thing…ie all these small companies, part of a big group, like a franchise type of thing. You know , a uk map on the site with locations of all the members, links to their sites, UKSG logo on vans and stationery – member 2002 and all that …..what do you all think –
    ??????
Ps only rob, mike, subaru and lorraine will reply to this cause everyone else just got a mouse and no keyboard when they bought their computer
    🙂

    Yes Joe
I agree! I am actually going to be doing things like this once money starts coming in.
I do have a logo for your vehicles if you haven?t got one already then let me know ill mail you one.
The map thing is already in progress for the new members area. Should be completed soon. My main concern at the moment is accounts being open. This is we will see who is and who isn?t serious about group buying & the group.
About 20 ? 30 accounts are being processed but we have 59 members on record so I have a bit to go yet Joe.
Just now we are almost bigger than any franchise group in the UK.
The reason why we are better off is simple. We are all individuals. Our profit is ours and it costs us what it costs us to set-up.
The franchise groups have to pay an enormous fee to the franchiser to set-up and after that they have to pay something like 10% of all earnings back to the franchiser year after year just so as they can still be part of the franchise group.
They get benefits like group buying & help from each other but we have all this and more very soon. & For what £34.95 a year! No ties or commitments.
Links to our sites, online accounts, and suppliers recommended to the group and much more will all be in the member?s area very soon. Lorraine is right! I think soon we will be the biggest and easiest to work with. We are all sign makers not suppliers.
Everything I can do to help promote us all is going to be free. The only costs to anyone will be for the suppliers. Soon all of them will want to be involved.
But they will not intimidate me. If they want to offer something fine.
But they must have a rock bottom price & make it worth our while.
Europoint is just the beginning. I have already spoken to lots of large companies. Some i am waiting to deal with, some I have told not to waste my time.
We will eventually be recognised and the ones that want to be involved (suppliers that is) will have to move fast.
Job swapping has already started within the group I think this will be a big benefit to us all. I don?t mean actually swapping but farming work out to each other in various areas of the country. There lots and lots of possibilities? we can only Waite and see.
As for posts on the boards. Yep still a limited amount posting but 99% are all British
& That is saying something. Posts maybe scarce but they are definitely on the right track.

    iYes Joe
Ill sort you out with a vector file and e-mail you it as soon as.
My web design capabilities are limited.
I work from a web template that is normally made for me I basically add and delete everything from there. Although the entire look & feel & graphics of the site is all my own work. But I get a hand actually moulding it all together. Also spelling & grammar is not my strong point 🙂 ) But I get by. Anyway
Ill go as I have a couple of those bloody telewest vans arriving?.
