I stupidly pressed without a protective sheet (to get creases out) a t shirt I picked up from the Promo show yesterday, and the image on the front has partly transferred to the underside of the top heat plate.

When it’s cool does anyone have a suggestion of how to clean it back off? Solvent etc?

Thank you – what a berk!!!

done this years ago myself, just use a bit of teflon on all your jobs from now on and you’ll be fine 😮

Failing that, fix the teflon on so it doesn’t come off

PS how was the show? Not going this year

    Hi John,
It was OK – too many companies selling the same garments, but some nice new techniques about.

Magic Touch 123 hot flex is good – really easy to weed and 3 second press – I’m getting some!

What do you reckon I could clean the press with – or do you think it’ll be OK just using the teflon sheet?

I tried to clean mine but not with much luck, i’d say put the press as hot as you can then give it a slight scrap with something to remove what’s there

but use a teflon sheet and you’ll be fine

If it was a screen print then white spirits will take it off – if its sublimation I think you may be stuck so use John’s idea of the teflon sheet taped to the press.

I did some hi viz without using a sheet and stained the press yellow. 😕

thanks guys – as luck would have it, as it was cooling I thought I would try a simple damp J-cloth – and it worked – back to shiny new! – I think I got away with that one by the skin of my teeth!

If it is ever sublimation ink, get a bit of polyester and keep pressing it til it takes the ink off the platen, cotton works too but is not so fast.
I have had T shirt vinyl and platic clothing tags etc stuck on there too before and a plastic scraper gets it off cold, otherwise a lot of rubbing with a microfibre cloth is also good but nothing abrasive obviously.
