3M chrome via Wm Smiths. only Cast Chrome on the market i know of.
not just a case of a cast chrome though. does stretch etc but very limited before whitening appears on the chrome, not so much the vinyl.http://www.williamsmith.co.uk/index.cfm … egoryID=18

Thanks Rob.
I got some Ritrama chrome vinyl a while back and thought it was a absolute pig to work with. It mite not of helped that the roll had been binded to tight tho.
Customer wants me to reproduce his logo on up to 6/7 vehicles. diggers, lorries, and vans. and i thought i mite cover my options by trying a cast vinyl. al give William smith a phone but Ive got this feeling it ain’t going to be cheap! 😕
Thanks again

nah, i dont think it will be cheap, probably in around or slightly more than the likes of carbon fibre vinyls. but it IS the only real cast chrome i know of.
normal chrome vinyls are actually a foil/polyester film. so zero give when it comes to stretching etc and adhesive often separates over time causing the foil to curl or deteriorate.
the best way i have found to increase the life of budget chrome vinyls is to apply regular vinyl to the surface creating an outline. then apply the chrome on top.
i have also done the revers, apply the chrome to the sign face and then a clear vinyl slightly over-sized to the chrome, which seals it all the way around each letter/graphic. obviously this helps any deterioration of the chrome/mirror film. -
Ive used Grafityp chrome film fitted to a new yacht. Very good as a cut vinyl, but a pig to flood with.

Thanks Rob for the advice. the logo is a 3 stage colour so al be layering it. so al put some vinyl down first and then layer the chrome on top for better adhesion’s
Hi Graeme how long ago did you fit the yacht? any idea how its standing up? as that’s a pretty harsh environment for it! am going to the customers premises on Saturday so am wanting as much info on them
Thanks

The vinyl went on well, unfortunately the owner spectacularly sank the boat in the firth of forth shortly after fitting. Was submerged for a week or so and stood up well. As far as Im aware the yacht is now in Poland with the vinyl intact.

I had a sneaky look @ your website b4 and seen it on there! but the closeups give its way more justice. Very nice work. shame it sank.
Thanks

APA also have a chrome vinyl in their range but I can’t vouch for quality.
