  • Supplier of Lightboxes needed please?

Posted by David Rogers on February 28, 2006 at 9:43 am

I’ve used Univer*** for umpteen years, but partly due to the daft delivery charges and mostly because of the recent price hike I’m after another supplier of GOOD lightboxes – nothing lightweight or cheap, just better value for money!

ps. Have given Cox/Hornes a call – waiting to hear back.

I agree with David. I got a costing for a 1200 x 300mm D/S Lightbox inc acrylic from Universal not bad at £69 but £30 delivery??? Is it coming from China?

    You think THAT’S bad!!

    800×600 D/S with panels, bracket & tubes……£181

of course, this includes the £30 delivery charge. Beyond the joke.

This was meant to be a cheap projection sign!

    >>>> just got price back from ‘the other place’ [edit – R. Horne] – £195!!! What is it – gold plated!…but only a tenner delivery. Bless ’em 🙄

You could give Insight in Glasgow a try, they’ve always been reasonably priced or failing that try Northern Signcases in Manchester (ask for Jason).

I’ve always bought mine from Universal through Amari, I just like the quality of their boxes rather than the cheapo ones.

I guess I must be being charged delivery twice -from Universal to Amari and then to me £15.00 from Amari. Still found them pretty reasonable though, got one sitting next door to go up this week 4000 x 700 s/s £375.00 plus £15 delivery.

Yeh, I used to go via Amari too – but paid less going direct.
Until today (first order after the price increases) I thought they were very good value…sadly no more. 🙁

Got my price back from Kestrel – just over £120 including delivery & VAT for a comparable product.

Looks like I’ve got a new supplier. Wahaay! 😛

    That’s a bit of a difference!

Next one I get I’ll give them a go

All quoting on same item, with same basic construction:
D/Sided Silver anodised 150mm case, 800x600mm, bracket, lights & panels. Delivered.

This is just a price comparison. I agree there will be some who supply items of greater quailty than others, but I’ve not accounted for that, just looked at the materials & construction methods quoted for. I wasn’t doing dummy quotes – if they could meet my expectations I’d buy.

    Univ. – £181 – inc VAT Complete & delivered.
    R.H. – £195 – inc VAT Complete & delivered.
    Kestrel. – £120 – inc VAT Complete & delivered.
Insight. – £194 – inc VAT No Panels, 1 extra tube, (looks bombproof) but not incl delivery.

I have used Kestral for their d/s projecting boxes and have found them to be a well made product at a fair price

I’ve used Kestrel for about fifteen years.

We don’t do many illuminated, so it’s mainly their Signframe product, but have been pleased with the quality. Much more professional than Panatrim and a lot easier and quicker to fit.

    :lol1: Morning All,
I have listened to your comments and as a result I have arranged for all delivery and packaging charges to be reduced to £20 per order as from Monday.
We will also supply any samples free of charge remaining committed to offering best value.
    Thank you for your comments.

Sorry to resurrect this old post, but good news!!

    Universal were cheaper on a (4.7 x 0.7m) box than Kestrel by a not insignificant 13%. (£50)

And it seems Ceri’s very welcome drop in "all delivery and packaging charges" took effect as promised…but only ‘south of the border’….

On the subject of lightboxes, I have a customer who is taking over a shop that has an existing light box and they want me to replace the fascia. Can you guys advise what type of acrylic/perspex I need and who best to supply (Glasgow area)

Sorry if this seems a straightforward thing to most of you guys but I have not done this type of work before

    Any help appreciated

    Bob
