Hi can anyone tell me of a supplier of vinyl that is chrome with pearlescent effect. Hexis do one but the manufacturer has a problem so they don’t have any at the moment.

Not sure about that particular effect but mdpsupplies.co.uk do quite a few special films.

Thanks John I’ve just had a look there and they don’t do it, it is a chrome finish but when tilted in the light it gives a rainbow type of effect, customer will not settle for any other vinyl it has to be this effect (hot)

Doesn’t Oracal have something like that?
    (Can’t find my color chart)
And I know for a fact that 3m/Gerber has a holographic chrome.
There is a patterned on and a smooth one.
    Sorry I wasn’t more help!
    Love….Jill
    PS
It is a very limited 1 year outdoor life, I believe it is a mylar film.
    A real PITA to remove.

Coburns do a pearlescent vinyl but not sure who supplies coburn films in the UK.

Is this for interior or exterior use Steve, be careful if it is for exterior because a lot of these films are display films for interior use.
I know coburns do an exterior version with a 2 year lifespan but can’t remember what it’s called sorry.

Hi Martin, It is for exterior use, actually it is going on the side of a car the dorotape one and the hexis one are both external 5yrs but I know what you mean about a lot of them being internal/short term.

get it in writing that is 5 year outdoor durable, I used some quite a few years ago, and was told it was 5 year, lasted little more than a year. Maybe they have inproved it since though?

    Is it someting like this?

according to the sign trade supplies catalogue, coburn rainbow chrome is a 4-5yr material. 99.9% sure on that.

phone them and ask, they’re in maidstone.

    quote Hugh Potter:

Yes Hugh, that’s what I was told, but did not last, and when it failed I did not have any come back, so if the product is durable, they will have no problem verifying it in writing

The coburn exterior stuff I used was pretty good, had both the display and exterior films. The display film was much brighter and reflected a lot more colour but unfortunately it didn’t last outside.

Good point about getting something in writing Peter, had problems with some forest green foamex once and wished I had something to go back to the supplier with latter.

Thats the stuff Peter, looks the same anyways. It won’t have to last the 5yrs I’m sure as he will probably change it again in a couple of years. Surely it is in writing already as it says on the website 5yr exterior life & they actually use Peters picture to advertise it.
