supplied disks and corel draw X3 vehicle outlines?
Posted by Mark Shipley on March 9, 2006 at 4:26 pmI sat down this morning and decided to go through the three extra CD’s that came with X3 to see what, if any goodies they had bundled with the software.
Yes, there are lots of fonts, photos and great clip art, but what really surprised me was hundreds and hundreds of vehicle outlines from http://www.mr-clipart.de cars, trucks, buses and earth moving equipment.
The outlines as far as I can tell are up-to date and appear to be very detailed.
I have to say that Corel has certainly made great job of the software and also of the bundled extras.

Hi Dave,
It came as a bit of a surprise to me but check out Disc 2 Clipart/Vehicles and you’ll find 1,729 vehicles in total (approx) 😉

Cool
I’d decided to buy x3 for my new business and that has really convinced me to go ahead.
I wonder if you can update it.
What is the best price for x3, I was going to get it from amazon for about £240 but if you know anywhere cheaper.

I noticed the outlines as well, Are the makes and models listed somewhere? they all just seem to be numbered, and I only had a quick scan through them Mainly American I think?
I just had another look , yes there are lots of european as well.
no names , just numbers, Perhaps there is a list on the disc somewhere?

OT.
What new business mamos, you leaving mackelbus? -
I got X3 a week ago and have been having a ball since I finally got it set up to my liking.
The vehicle clips are great but I haven’t spent a lot of time with them yet.
There are no names or models either on the disc or in the book.
And just to cheese us of a little more, Corel made the drawings too small to identify without a magnifying glass.
Majority of the clipart is OK in the book but I would have liked to see more or larger pages to allow for bigger and easily identifiable images.X3 is looking very good so far.

Hi Guys,
I’m a little late on replying to this post but FAO Paul Rollason.
I was looking for a good price on Corel X3
I Looked on Ebay, there is a guy on there who sells academic based software, he trades under the name of David Technologies, he is selling X3 for £89 plus VAT.
I’ve had plenty of items off him in the past, most recently Corel 12.
All boxed and sealed as you would purchase at your local store, it’s just the academic versions, but he does sell them no questions asked.
he also has a feedback rating of 8000+ so he is a very trusted seller.Kind Regards

JAs,
what exactly is an academic version please?
Does it mean it has some limited capabilities? -
Andrew the academic or educational version is identical to the upgrade and full version software. There is nothing missing or disabled.
The only difference is that you do not get any printed material such as the user guide or the clipart catalogue with the academic version.
What you get is the four discs in a DVD case, not real fancy but it is genuine and legit.
I paid the extra for the upgrade version simply because I have not had a full version with all the bells and whistles since V4 and I am loving the read, it helps to fill in the gaps.best

Thanks for that Lance.
I have had a play with the trial version and am as yet undecided about it. Probably because, as you say, the manuals and books are a must. -
Andrew if you have a bit of experience with the later versions you could prolly get by without the books.
The user guide is on the CDs but I’m not sure about the clipart catalogue. You can use a viewer for that anyway.
I prefer hard copies to sit in a comfy chair with but that is just me.
There is a nifty little thing in ‘Help/What’s New’ that will show you any changes since the earlier versions, I think that is active in the trial version.
Play with it and have fun, it is a fun thing to have.best

I had a word with my student daughter and she can buy a copy for me.
Is this okay or out of order? -
Andrew, On the box it says not for commercial use, but i bought a copy,
I use it to play with and learn, I use signlab as my "commercial package".
so I think that I am not out of order, as a lot have said before, the supplier is not obliged to ensure a student buys the package, anyone can.
otherwise the students would only be re-selling for a profit!
I do sometimes import stuff into signlab, but if corel were worried about that, they surley would have disable the export or save as features. which would not be needed for somebody using corel to learn their system.Peter
