You guys saw me posting in the fabrication forums.

So here it is. I didn’t route the back myself. It turns out the Melbourne Dibond supplier is 5 minutes from me and they have an upright flat bed router so they did the routing for me.

Its 4 metres by 1.2 metres. Will show photos after its fitted hopefully tomorrow.

Once again special thank you to the members who answered my questions to sign trays. All in all it was surprisingly simple to bend the dibond. I did use a length of timber with a slot cut but I ending up finding doing it by hand was just as easy and straight.

Oh the photo is rotated upside down because the tray was upside down and I couldn’t be bothered rotating it.

    Cheers
    Jason

    Hey hugh,

Down here I biggest size I can get is 4050 by 1500 that’s in the Platinum White/ Metallic Aluminum finish. Can get that in 2,3,4mm thickness.

This is one sheet. I figured I’m going to strap it to the scissor lift put it on the brackets and screw 🙂 Will let you know how it goes.

Looks good mate. Don’t you just love those long sheets. I did one not long ago, biggest problem I had was transporting it as I don’t have a truck. love being able to lift it on my own though… my customer thought I was superman…. I didn’t enlighten her either 😳

The weight is awesome. Colorbond sheets half the size I struggled to carry myself. They flap around and what not. When you create the tray it makes the dibond more rigid so you can carry it yourself.

I don’t have a truck either just a van. But my family friend has a furniture shop and has one of those moving trucks. 4 Metre sheets fit nicely in the back of it flat or upright so I’ll just borrow that for when I do these in the future or just get a Budget rent a truck. It’s like $70 for the day.

I had a real find on thursday. A 1 tonne 2.6l 5 speed Ford Courier Ute with roof racks to take 4.8mtr x 1.8mtr sheets, plus a 2.4m x 1.8m ally tray (A little dent in that though). Owned by a timber merchant who gave it to his daughter who is an Olympian horsewoman… only used on the farm to carry horse poo and to shoe the horses…..

She was only asking $3000 because thats all they offered her on a trade for another second hand ute. This one will not pull her new swank horse float apparently.

Gave her cash on the spot. Never been properly serviced I’d say. Washed the horse poo off yesterday and had it fully serviced. Mechanic says it is in mint condition…… I’m laughin’ but my mum and dad have their eye on it now….. Got all these plans…. more dirt for the garden…. more plants from the nursery… looks like I’ll have to book a time to use it 😕

Sign looks great, Jason. Even better if you’ve got someone who can do the routing for you, it does make a load of mess.

Shaney, sounds like a great buy. Just keep plenty of air fresheners in the glove box. Mind you, horse poo doesn’t smell too bad.

I’m hoping the ute grows into a truck mate …. enough poo to give the roses a good feed anyhow…. :lol1:
