• Sun Visors

    Hi Guys

    Need some help !

Basically we need sun visors for vehicles. I assume clear vinyl (what’s best ?) and 1 colour faded digtal print.

Need to manufacture 1,000’s of these…so what machine/s would be our best option for speed and cost ?

    Many thanks

Hi Dazzel, This is not an easy one to answer, there are questions to ask 1st, such as what size are required? as every make of car has different size windscreen’s.
What colours are required? as in my experience with boy / girl racers they all want the colour to match or compliment their car paintwork.

I presume you have been asked by a big manufacturer to quote for these. They, i assume will want their logo on which is bound to be multicoloured.

I think someone like Nik would be best to answer this, but wouldn’t you be better off farming this job out, would be a lot cheaper if these are going to be 1 colour or two colours..

John thanks, yes we probably will farm it out but just looking at options.

Size 1.2 metres clear with graduated 1 colour tint.

    Thanks

What i don’t understand is they want them in clear & graduated print on top. it’s dark inside the car, looking in from outside, you wont be able to see the print!!!! or will you

Are these to be graduated top to bottom as in a proper sunstrip?

Either was if they overlap the swept area of the wipers they are ilegal in this country, and if fitted could fail an MOT.

We need to make them legal, but obviously as well “over-size” initially so clients can trim to fit.

Idea is a gradulated tint so as to allow the lower edge to be clear with upper edge full colour. E.g as with glass tint OEM but with a greater “block-out” at the top edge.

Need to be clear, rather than say white material as clients are not “boy racers” and require something that is functional rather than being an obvious sun visor!

    Many thanks for replies

clear is the issue… all car stickers are backed white as the inside of a car is dark…

the sun strips we did once for the motorsport industry was done on the outside of the car wite white flooded and then image ontop so the drivers only saw white..

i would dabble with some clear Paul.

If graduated… then for silk screen it would have to be dot halftone, but dots are not the easiest things to print… Have to be fairly large and sun blocking like black dots.

Paul, screen printing is the best answer for these, as you can use an opaque ink. Digi print only use translucent ink, and it may well be lost on a clear backing, especially on glass.
