unfortunately according to the blurb its the machine for me or the project i have in mind.
but as i don’t believe the spec to much any reports from people using them.

i now its not that well supported in the uk cos of poor sales.
the edge is worth a look but just to small. so will be waisting a lot of material.

    any help please.

I’m guessing Art Systems are the main suppliers for Summa stuff but a (long) chat with Harry might help.

I know its a bit late with this but are you still looking at one of these?

I have had demos and samples etc and decided it wasnt for us for one or two reasons – may be able to helps if its a similar application you have in mind?

well so far still waiting for samples i have asked for 300mm sq so to see if i can see the joins.
i really don’t want to buy old type printers but the only way i can think of for this project. it will be all down to the joins in a spot colour fill.

unfortunately screen printing will do just what i want (except the flashy silver) but don’t want to get involved.

most of the designs are 320mm so a edge (300mm) just wont do it even if i rotate then etc.

My guess is you will not get the samples. I asked for similar samples and just received their standard (albeit very impressive) pack of samples, some of which featuring foils which arent in their normal list.

Undeterred, I approached the Summa/artsystems stand at SignUK and eventually got them to produce 200mm discs of spot colour to test the overlap problem. Frankly the results were dissapointing and the laps were very obvious despite running several trials using virtually all the options for adjustment available. Alan Flynn got involved as well as one of the Summa techies but there was no soloution at the show and I think we were supposed to receive "better" samples once they had had more time to try this, but these havent arrived yet!

In all honesty, the print quality/eveness across the 100mm printing width was not as good as the edge, showing a marked difference from one side to the other. This makes joining of the bands very noticable and not somthing I could sell. I am of course talking about spot colours here, as the CMYK is far superior to the edge although the screen effects do still as staggered lines occaisionally on the 100mm joins.

I may still have the roundel samples here if you want me to send one to you?

No way you can redesign slightly to fit within the 300mm width of the edge?

thanks for your time colin, the more info i am finding it is going the way you thought. the US user forum is full of gripes

i have tied to get these odd shapes in side 300 mm but no go, like your stuff its specialized and needs to be top dollar finish.
