• Sublimation paper

I imported some sublimation transfer paper from China………..cost was $5.40 per 100 sheets compared to £10.00 per 100 for the Xpress paper that I have been using since I started with sublimation.

Both mugs were pressed at 204 deg C for 3 minutes.
Mug on the left was with Xpress paper ( ignore the blowout mark at the bottom, I have increased the pressure which cured this problem) …….mug on the right was with the Chinese paper…….which do you think is best?

    HI John

I would say the one on the right is better than the left, it would seem to have more colour depth.

Did you use the same print colour setup ??

    all the best

Identical print setups Paul……….the Chinese paper seems to give a ‘warmer’ tone to it………very close to the original photo

I printed with the Chinese paper for the first time today………I have had a printed mug in the dishwasher for the last 3 weeks………I printed 2 identical mugs ( so that I could compare) and so far there has been no fading.

The one on the right looks much richer.

everyone is smaller in that one too, is that because its Chinese? 😀

The one on the right for sure
The detail in the clouds is far better, the reds look a bit too bright though, not sure if thats the web though

a combination of the web and the camera flash……in the flesh the reds are less ‘orange’ than they look on screen.

The one on the right looks much better but I press my xpres stuff for 4 minutes and it comes out really well 99% of the time.

SO can you buy low quantities from China? I thought you had to buy quite alot of stuff.

I brought in 500 sheets of Sublimation paper and 200 of the self weeding sublimation paper………the more you bring in the more cost effective the shipping becomes.

Be interesting to see the original photo at the side of the 2 mugs. I can see that the image on the right appears clearer but looking at the one on the left, in particular the boot on the chap at the bottom appears clearer. The sky is very blue on the right picture, hopefully this was the case but it almost seems tinted.

    Just my tuppence worth!

    Justin 🙂
