Has anyone ever printed onto Hi Viz vests? They are 100% polyester so in theory they should be printable but obviously with the yellow being so intensive I was just curious as to other peoples findings.

Im going to pic one up from Machine Mart tomorrow on my way to work to practice on.

Hi Paul, Yes i tried subli prints on hi viz with mixed results….Screwfix ones came out well but started to bleed after a few hours (i’m sure they were Dickies ones) Also tried uk leisurewear ones…they had 2 different ones, The cheaper ones strangely enough came out better but didnt have the right class rating for site work (i think they were cyclists ones) Colours were not great either apart from black. Anyway after lots of phaffing about we now just print using garment vinyls.

    Steve.

Printing onto hi-viz gear is a good profitable part of my business due to having the contract for a local tool company to print all of the work wear they supply to other business’s.

I even stock a full range of hi-viz work wear in my retail shop… vests, polo’s, bomber & traffic jackets all of which I offer printing onto for a few quid.

And don’t forget you can offer colour printing onto them, even yellow 😮 as I learned last week when a young guy wanted a smiley face put on a hi-viz vest for a rave 🙄

Well ive just bought a Hi Viz vest from the local tool shop and printed 5 different logos onto it to see how it went.

At 200 Degrees for 30 seconds, light pressure the results were fantastic. Im so impressed that im going to start contacting local businesses.

good news then Paul, Check them again in a few hours mate,…and get them wet before offering them for sale, Dont want hoards of angry punters on your case the first time it rains. What make did you you use in the end?

Dickies as its all they had in the shop. Im busy talking to a supplier who I know supply subli suitable ones as ive been talking to a guy who used to do it.

Hopefully these dont bleed but ill take it home tonight and stick it in the washer to see what happens.

Cool, good luck with that then, ukleisurewear & ralawise were the cheapest suppliers i found for those. If you get a spare couple of hours nip round all the local sites in your area and stick some flyers up in the canteens, you’ll sell shedloads of them..especially ones with cheeky slogans on. Wont be long and you’ll be needing a bigger pick up than your mini. 😀 (impressed with that by the way)

If you want a darker image try pressing for a further 20-30 secs.

Don’t go paying to much for "Subli suitable" hi-viz garments from any supplier, almost all hi-viz gear is 100% polyester so all perfect for sublimation.

You should be looking at paying around £1-1.50 for good quality vests & £9-10.00 for bomber/traffic jackets & always check they have access zips to allow printing (BTC’s don’t)

    Have fun

That’s a good price if they are decent quality, stay away from the really cheapie ones as you’ll find them either to thin or just fall apart after a months use 👿
