I use it when a new shop is opening and they have left it a little late before ordering their sign so I make up a temporary one to tide them over. Always looks a bit iffy and wouldn’t want to leave it there in the long term.

If that is the same stuff as Correx the simple answer is it is cheap and nasty. Looks cheap with the flutes and has absolutely no UV resistance. It will literally crumble with time.

As mike says, no UV value. It goes yellow and brittle, even faster in our summer mate.

You looking for a cheap alternative?

You can buy Expanded Foam PVC with and without UV finish. Needs to be fixed really well though, as it will warp in our extreme temps in Qld 😉

thanks to all. I just had a client who requested a couple of signs in the same material as one he already has (corflute). I needed to know what the down sides were so gave him options from corflute to Dibond. told him corflute has a reduced life etc in writing. He’s gone for corflute.
Thanks to all for the help.

Because it’s cheap and tacky, and it will deteriorate after about 18 months outside.

Hi Jill The job is for a rather suspect used car yard and he is only looking at 2 things 1. price
and 2. he is only thinking 12 months all his signage including a large wall sign done by somebody else is in corflute.
Thanks for taking the time to reply

Michael beware what type of tape you stick it with (if you’re using tape)
Fluted board is polypropylene and it’s not friendly with normal tapes!!

3M should be fine. AGS sell an ‘extreme’ Stylus tape d/s tape too which I use in preference to 3M

If its going on two small pylons what about using something like zip ties, they are cheap and nasty so should match the board quite well.

Michael, where I live the people are well known for wanting everything for nothing so I am use to customers that will only buy cheap rubbish. You are wasting you time trying to explain to a lot of them that their image is important and their business will do a lot better if they take a bit of time and spend a bit on presenting their business properly to their customers so I just give them what they want and hope the next one is a bit more satisfying.
I have produced signs on correx and then just put a couple of brass eyelets in them so they could be zip tied to a post and the ties not pull straight out of the board which works OK.
I am actually wondering why he came to you to do this if his main sign was done by someone else, why didn’t he just get the other guy to do these as well? Make sure you get paid in full as soon as they are up as these sort of people tend to be the worst sort of payers as well.

As for calling you cheap and nasty, not a chance. Just have a look at my picture. I’m the last person in the world to go name calling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Martin
For the first time I asked for and received a substantial deposit so even if he does become difficult I will still cover costs.
He got us from the sign on our van, which he saw whilst having a blew with a sign writer who didn’t turn up for an appointment to quote. The yard is only about 1km from us so cost etc are not high. I also find that I learn so much from each job I do that I really want to do it Just for the learning experience his logo is different to any I have done before and I am really looking forward to the challenge. I asked my good lady, who is an excellent judge and she thought you didn’t look to bad.
    😀 😳 regards Mike
