Can anyone help with the manufacture and supply of something suitable to do this??

I have another company selling Boxing Equipment and am having some sample Boxing Boots made up by the same people that make Lennox’s, Ali’s and Audley’s to name just a few. They will be pure Italian Suede or English Hide leather and are aimed at the exclusive fashion marketplace (they ain’t cheap!)

They will be on display at the Clothes Show later this year and rather than have them stuck on top of a cardboard box I am looking at putting a pair inside a perspex/glass/acrylic….. diamond or similar shaped box with some kind of subtle lighting underneath, fibre optics etc.,??? The idea being to make them look untouchable!

The MUST BE criteria is as follows:

Must be easily transportable, light enough to carry by hand.

    Plug straight into the mains.

    Look real classy……….

We have done something similar for hiking boots , basically we profiled the outline of the hiking boot and cut it out of the middle of a piece of 10mm thick perspex (slightly smaller than the boot) , we then inserted the hiking boot into the cutout and it stuck in there cos it was an interference fit – there was a whol lot of legend revere engraved on the perspex with arrows pointing to various areas of the boot explaining the saliant points.

There is a product called “solar Edge – which is basically an extruded profile with a slot cut into it , it contians a low voltage thin strip halogen light and the ballests – the edge of the perspex rests just above the strip light and the light floods the 10mm piece and whatever is engraved glows or flouresces – the whole piece was stuck in that and the boot and the legend seemed to “float” in the air.

Another suggestion is to take 2 paralell sheets of pex and join then using either acrylic rod or some sort of metal threaded rods rods at all 4 corners
Then insert rods in the middle so you can support the shoes on the middle rods (with a dab of marine silicon sealant perhaps – you sort of samwhich the shoes between the 2 pieces (dont squash the pieces against the shoes , let the shoes rest on the rods with some space between the shoes and the peerspex side sheets – sor ot like an open sided encasement)
This can be mounted on a turntable and the turntable itself can have low voltage halogens pointing at the rotating part – you can engrave etc on the pex for added advertising etc
This will light up the shoes , look neat and rotate them and you can put other shoes in if need be

    Thanks all…..

Rod, I’m familiar with the concept of Solar Edge but can’t find a website or anything on it?? Like the idea with the boot cut out.

Does anyone know of a UK alternative?

    Thanks

We do the extrusions locally but the original system (we do it under licence) is marketd by a Belgian co called Co-sign
    http://www.cosign.be
They make a VERY nice range of “snap” together signage – we do very well with their profiles etc – worth a look
