    Hi,

I have a project for some wall covering.
I am aware of Phototex but I was wondering if you have some real life experience of these alternatives?
    Stickytex IJ700
    UTACK Waterbased Textile

Either option will be printed on aqueous printer and there may be some kiss-cutting.

I have samples of all 3 materials and is very little difference between but the critical aspect is the adhesive which cannot be judged from samples.

    Thank you

    Why Textile George ?

    Few reasons:
    – it’s textured, I can achieve some special effects on it
    – it can be printed on aqueous without further protection (i.e. lamination)
    – removable
    – easy to install

Did you think "why not vinyl"?

We do thousands of Sqm of wall coverings every year but we never use textile. We have been called in several times to replace previously installed textiles that other companies have put up. The only one that I would even remotely recommend is the genuine Phototex EX range. Personally speaking, there are far better non textile products out there

Alright then, give us some product names so I can look them up. Thanks

We use a lot of the Metamark wallart range, really like it.

They cannot be printed on aqueous printer.

I’ve installed once one of their textured PVC wall art vinyl and I didn’t like it. On flat surface it was okay but it was problematic around slightly curved surfaces and corners because it was thick and rigid, it was lifting up. It was looking quite cheap on the wall, I thought ordinary MD3 with matt lam would have looked way better.

A textile is much softer and goes naturally around all shapes and surfaces.

Ah, yes we use Latex printers.
Didn’t really have much issue fitting, but admittedly has been on flat walls!
Have used matt laminated MD3 also, combined with gloss laminated pieces to create a spot-uv effect!

I do but it’s the purpose of this forum to share the knowledge and the experience, let’s keep it alive. :smiles:

    George,
I see where you’re coming from but, it’s probably worth your while giving Iain your number.

He is extremely knowledgeable on the wallpaper side of things and it’s probably a lot easier for him to call between job on the road, that write it all down!I haven’t always acted upon his advice but I always apreciate his input on a particular task.

Thanks for the kind words Hugh, and yes you are correct, its much easier for me to pass on experience/knowledge
via a phone call when i am out on the road.
I do have extensive knowledge in this area as it is probably 50% of my total revenue, but I’m sure by now George has found the answers he was looking for and thus purchased the products he needs.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though :claps:

I’d 2nd what Hugh says – It would not be a waste of your time speaking to Iain.

I often find it easier to ring people, than coming and going with e-mails.

These forums are great, but I occasionally receive emails, and calls from members looking for quick bit of advice, and it’s easier to communicate directly.

Aww thanks David , although if you ask my wife I’m sure she thinks it’s a waste of time taking to me half the time, especially when she tells me not to buy anymore trainers lol
