Sticking Foamex to Ply?
Posted by Tim Painter on May 31, 2006 at 12:10 pmI need to stick a 5mm foam panel to a Plywood backing board.
Was thinking of sealing the ply with say unibond and using VHB tape.
Any other ideas welcome?
Many Thanks
Tim.

I do this all the time using Evo-Stik. It says on the tin that it is ideal for sticking wood and PVC among other thing and I’ve never had a problem yet in 3 years.

Use Evo-stik as well. Sometimes not on display in the likes of B&Q / Wickes due to HIGH solvent content – just ask.

Sorry to drag up an old post, but do you guys means Evo-Stick Contact Adhesive, i.e. apply thin layer on both surfaces, let dry then stick together.
Will this work with alupanel to ply also.
I’ve got an advertising board to do for a small footie pitch, and I’m not sure what substrate to use. Don’t know if it’s gonna be supported with posts yet or some other system, but I was thinking foamex on ply for strength, or for a better wearing sign 3mm alupanel onto ply, or do you think the alupanel will be ok on it’s own.
Any ideas welcome
Thanks

Yup, that’s the stuff. Will stick just about anything including the alupanel.
….easy to get wasted on it in an enclosed space.
I would recommend though that you stick the parts together wet and let the solvents dry out slowly – or it’s very much a one-shot affair!!
Same end result – just takes longer.
