Have been asked for a static cling window stickers.
The file is of burgers for a chip shop. Will the pictures need white backing?
If so, is it better to overprint or laminate a white vinyl contour cut around the images on the back.
Can any white vinyl be used for the backing?

similar thing i’m dealing with at the moment. you can buy white static cling and print on it. (not in mirror) just you normal print as is. the printed side will stick on the inside of a window. squeegey with app fluid. this will make sure all air bubbles will escape which you cant do dry with stat cling. 😀

If it was a rectangular picture and a white background was wanted then I would print direct to white static cling.
However the pictures are irregular shapes and they are positioned at various places within one sticker of 900mm x 600mm dimensions. The sticker overall needs to remain clear and I was talking about just backing up the outtline of each picture with white to make them stand out more. Therefore white cling not possible unless we printed each picture seperately. But think client just wants one simple sticker on clear.

my advise with static cling is to "Test" it before commiting… awful stuff to print to if ur not silk screen.

Sounds a tricky job Stuart…and a bit of a pain in the arse…but if it has to be on clear then I would try and back the pictures up with a std white vinyl, (although I have never tried this so may poss need white static ) and would say it would be easier to do it when the clear sticker is in position on the window and then wet apply the white backing over the pictures.

As Dave above says, worth a try out first.

btw, I have no problem printing on static cling, always great results.
