George painted with 2k car paint, most vehicle bodyshops can match to a RAL, HOWEVER IF THEY HAVE NOT PAINTED THEM BEFORE DONT put on a full bake due to the sheet material getting too hot and distorting, have done a good few sheets in the passed. Rich

Rich, no idea about baking etc so do you bake them at all?

Ive painted ACM before, As Richard says 2 pack paint is the way to go. Best to use a fast hardener do it last thing at night and it will be dry by the morning.

looking at the size of the sign its not worth a body shops trouble is it possible to do with a couple of tins that have been made up to the ral in synthetic enamel?

Only other thing I can think of is there is a guy near me that can mix paint into a aerosol tin. So there are people that could do that for you. Only problem is it would be some sort of a single pack paint and would take alot long to dry and out gas before applying vinyl to it.

    Hope that help

The advice is all correct, however I would not use a can due to getting a good finish, spray cans only have a small fan width and you won’t be able to keep a wet edge, meaning the finish will look dry and like a gate, fence pattern , unless its only 800×800 Rich

As Martin said a fast air dry hardner will be ok

Same here, key it with fine sandpaper, undercoat it and gloss. Has to be keyed well though or it will chip easily.

I normally use a scotch brite pad to key the surface, give a coat of cellulose primer lightly de-nibbed and then sprayed and have had good results from spray cans on smaller signs. I do prefer to use 2 pack because if you flat and polish it you can get a superior finish. Be sure to use a primer because when you sand the polyester coating on composite you get fine fibres stand up which you can see in a top coat if directly applied over the polyester coating

I just lightly Scotchbrite mine, clean with alcohol and then paint.
I never prime it, figuring that the factory finish is good enough as a primer.

If you want to save getting dust Put some water down on the ground where you are going to be spraying, That’s if you can.
