Well I think it is? Any Irish friends on here pronounce it that way?

Sorry about the angle of the photo but was moving at the time…

    Whodunnit?

It googles quite a bit that miss-spelling lol

You can see it now, someone on the phone from england doing the banner, “Hello Sir, how can I help”… “I want quote fur banner saying Saint Pattick Day”..
    And there we have it

To be honest, a sign is about getting a message across and that sign is quite understandable, maybe even extra people go there to tell them about mistake.
From Irish perspective if the sign says celebrate and tells us where to go to celebrate, that is more than enough info, the bit in the middle is irelevent.

I have been asked plenty of times to spell a word wrong. Gets peoples attention, and people start talking about it, which is the best advertising after all.

They’ll blame the sign guy for being illiterate, never assuming it was done on purpose….

Thats my story and I’m sticking to it! 😳

Hey Shane, when we had a milk bar about 12-15 years ago I had my sign maker spell ‘confectionery’ with an “ary” rather than an “ery”.
This was done on two veranda fascias on a corner site.
The number of ppl who came in to tell me I had a spelling mistake on my sign was incredible. Some spent money, some didn’t, but I still believe that sign did it’s job well.
We sold the business 7 year ago and that sign is still up there and working 24 hours a day.

    best

you’re telling me its not spelt ‘ary’? 😳 😉

I always get accommodation wrong. For some reason I always forget the 2 ‘m’ s.

Did 14 signs for the airport last year with the wrong spelling (the client signed off on the artwork thank goodness) and no one saw the error until some over educated 7 year old came up and pointed it out.

Must have had a private education! 🙁
