I’ve come up against something with the PC60 thats got me a bit puzzled. I’m trying to print a sheet of stickers (approx 33mm circular) onto Oracal 751 Yellow with a Kelly Green spot colour cart.

Initially the PC60 wouldn’t recognise the green, so I ripped a bar code off a black cartridge and made the PC60 think it was a printing black. Unfortunately once it did eventually print, the quality is aweful. It looks like I’ve made the stickers with a felt tip pen and a stanley knife. The print is bad, its cutting incorrectly and generally making a mess of the whole job.

Has anyone else come up against this type of problem? I’ve printed/cut stickers of this size before using a black cart onto silver vinyl, no problems at all. I’ve also tried another Kelly Green cart to check whether I have a duff one, but still does the same 🙁 Would it be quicker with a felt tip pen and a stanley knife if all else fails? 😉

    Cheers, Dewi

the colours are mixing to give you a queer colour.
try printing down a white backgroung onto the yellow then print the green on top of the white.

After market cartridges Becky from PrintOne. I’ve had a few hundred pounds worth of cartridges from them and never had a single problem, other than user error, but then I am a bit of a gimp at times 😀

How would I go about printing the white and then the green? Printing the white isn’t a problem but how do I ensure exact registration for the overprint with the green?

Don’t know what printer u use, I use an edge.
the edge automatically finds the registration for printing in layers, with a little tweeking!.
Can u mark the vinyl (ink pen) print the white , then bring back the vinyl to the original start point then print the other colour!!

you could tyr printing cyan only on to the yellow that will give you a green
if you want to double print the the dip switch has to be on to bring the vinyl back to the start first print then print and cut

Didn’t think of that Chris, I’ll have a pop with a Cyan cart 😀 Btw, where is this dip switch thingy? I know I’m a dip stick, but I don’t think that counts does it? 😉

I’ve seen the registration thingy on the Gerber, its cool… kind of like the targeting systems on the old B52 bombers :lol1: Not quite as lethal though, which is nice 😀

Chris, you’re a star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Note for future, Cyan printed onto yellow vinyl = perfect match for Kelly Green!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

How many pints do I owe you now Chris? Would it be cheaper if I just bought you a small brewry? 😉 😉 😉 😉

Thank you though mate, I’m well pleased 😀

dippy switch no 6 front edge sencer to on form feed in driver to off will take it back to the beginning for a over print. some times this can be used to over print a small mark on a bigger print using brake apart ungroup etc to get to the small area with poor print

I think your initial problem was caused by using the black bar code. I seem to remember when I had a PC60 this would cause extra thick prints. Try using the yellow bar code and selecting the spot colour in the driver.
