Yuck they are horrendous……….Ive just sat here for 5 mins looking at them with my hand over my mouth and covered in goose bumps. I couldnt suck those up with my dyson, they’d probably fight back. 😮

😮 Steve would need the washing up bowl to catch those instead of the usual glass he uses!! Those are huge …. I think my heart would be close to stopping if I was sat on the toilet and saw that lurking on the toilet roll next to me :yikes:

The wife and I woke up with one above our heads in bed one night. The really big ones actually make a noise when they walk. We turned the light on to see what the noise was and he was 6 inches above our pillow.

The wife sleeps with a can of fly spray beside our bed, and emptied it on the fella that stunned him just enough for me to squash him with a book.

Had one in the shower with me this morning, under my face cloth. Gives your heart a start!

We have a lot of bush around our house, which is why they are so common. I think it is breeding time too. When they hatch in our office, 100’s of baby spiders go everywhere. The gecko’s usually kill them, but one or two get away. My dad trys to catch them to put them outside, but I kill them at any opportunity much to dads dismay.

Not as big as some american spiders tho. 😮

But dont they make an awful mess when you squash them? 😮
I have various splat marks on my bedroom wall ( really should decorate :lol1: ) and our spiders arn’t quite as big and juicy as yours.
I was wondering why the spiders feel the need to walk around the bedroom at night, why cant they do it downstairs when we are all asleep.
Oh and the thought that they are big enough to make a noise when they walk OMG 😮

Had a run in with one of those a couple of weeks ago.

I heard my nine year old son yell “Dad there’s a BIG spider on the fly screen” so I thought. right I’ll show him how tough his old man is.
This thing was as big as the palm of my hand but I had seen people handle them before and they seem fairly non aggressive so with the wife and kids looking on from inside the screen I attempted to put it onto my hand.
As I started to lift it off the flyscreen the whole family screamed at once which scared the hell out of me and I ended up throwing the spider on the ground, in a split second it ran over to my bare foot and sunk it’s fangs into my big toe. Now I screamed and kicked the thing off straight back onto the fly screen inches from the kids faces who let out another even louder scream. It was like a scene from a Three Stooges movie.

I’m not sure my son was all that impressed but later in the week one of the parents from school asked me about my spider bite, the little bugger had told it for news.

he he, very funny !! i’m not overly woried by spiders, i often pick up those real big house spiders that wander across the room while you watch tv, ya know…. the ones that appear to freeze once you look in their direction, and then leg it again as soon as you look away ! have had one in the palm of my hand before and it decided to leg it up my arm into my t-shirt sleeve though, that made me move some !!

only been biten by a spider once, unloaded a truck load of pallets which had come from italy, when i’d finished taking them into the warehouse i noticed a strange looking spider with an egg sack under it…. making for the door, only about 2 inches across at most, but due to its odd orangy colour i decided to pick it up on some card board, rather than by hand…. held the card to the floor and went to nudge it on with my fingers, jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus…. the thing leapt… egg sack n all about five inches onto my bare hand, held on for dear life with its weird feeling feet and bit me, not hard but enough for me to try and shake it off, damn thing wouldnt let go so i flicked it off, then as it started to scarper for the pallet pile outside, i figured i’d accidentally step on it ! didnt want some sack load of aggressive spiders going free range anytime soon !!!

btw, i was always told it was bad luck to kill a spider !
