Phones rings, “can you give me a price for a sign”

” what size mate” I answered.

    “medium” came the reply……… *hair*

If anyone translate “medium” into cm`s, I`d be most greatful.

ps. my lady`s already told me what small is……..

I had an e-mail request this afternoon for a price, it was also blatantly Cc:’d to 2 other local companies. Does he actually think he’ll get it cheaper if he makes it clear that others are quoting too?
I bunged off a sensible price, I just hope the others do the same so that whoever gets the job makes a fair return.

I once had an appointment to visit a client to discuss a sign.

On arriving, I met up with a representative from a rival sign company. The client had arranged for us both to call at the same time.

This really angered me and after a very short conversation I explained to the client that this was not a job I was interested in quoting for.

It works two ways and I hate having my time wasted. Neither do I wish to get into a bidding war – I’d rather seek out better customers πŸ˜€

I get the same ” How much is a trophy?”
My Reply “how long is a ball of string?”

I dont mind competitive bidding so long as we compare apples with apples , which is not often the case.
We deal with a lot of sign companies and it amazes me that they exist , scrawled hand written faxes with no covering letter or return phone number with some silly message like “Please quote on cut out aluminium letters?” , NO indication of thickness , finish , font , mounting pins etc and they get real p’d off that you don’t quote em while the fax machine is printing:)

I had one guy come in to order some printed tees.

“lets have a look at your design” I said.

he then gets out his lap top, and begins to design it there and then, in front of me. saying I want something like this… I couldn`t believe it.

He thought I was being unreasonably, when I commented, I shouldn`t have to sit here while he draws the dam thing.

“I need a no parking sign”
    “What size?”
    “the normal size”
    “How about 50cm x 30cm?”
    ” Crumbs! That’s massive!”
    “30cm x 20cm?”
    “Will it be seen?”
