  • Software issue means my graphtec will only cut tiny numbers!

    Hi
this is probably a really stupid question. i have a graphtec CE5000 120 cutter and i am using it with vinyl master pro. When i output my work to cut the cutter just cuts a series of tiny numbers.

I’m sure it’s a software issue as the software which came with the cutter works fine.

I’ve tried the cutter on a mates flexisign now and it also only cuts a series of tiny numbers.

Is there something i am not setting up correctly in these softwares which causes this to happen?

I would really appreciate any help as this is driving me slightly crazy.

    Thanks

    Liam

You are probably using a HPGL diver when it should be GPGL or vice versa.

It will almost certainly be a language problem if the numbers are tiny single line ones (ie ones that you cannot weed) You can switch the Cutter between HPGL & GPGL so can change that rather than the software if you prefer.

I reckon Brian is right, Cutting Master comes with the Graphtec and that only works with gpgl. When I use Signlab that driver is hpgl.

Ok thanks very much to you two for your advice as it helped to solve the problem a great deal. 😀

Let me just explain exactly how i sorted it in case anyone else has the same problem and finds this thread, i don’t want to just take from here so i will try to contribute-

First of all i downloaded the full manual for my graphtec cutter from their website. Then i found out how to change the cutters language setting to HPGL. I then had to make sure my software was communicating in the same language.
Then finally i found out the changes only took effect when i switched everything off (cutter and computer) and restarted them. Now everything is working fine.

    Thanks again!!!
