  • Software for gerber fastrack advice needed

Posted by Alex Still on July 4, 2011 at 8:09 pm

Hi all since being made redundant ive been using the facilitys of another small sign company who are winding down to do my own jobs. They have a gerber fastrack, edge & envision and copy of omega.

I would like to take on the fastrack but they will retain the edge and omega software, basically what i would like to know is what software can i cut to this machine from, in my previous employment we cut everything from corel with finecuts but ive been told this will no be compatible.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Cheers Alex

the cutter is a mutoh in disguise.
    it understands plain jane HPGL
So that means just about any and all programs can cut to it.

Just find some software in your price range that can output HPGL, which is all of them.
A Roland driver should work fine if you cant find a Mutoh driver.

cant remember if thre is a menu switch to flip it between the different languages.

i did run it before on HPGL many years back, seemed alright

    Hi Alex,

How did you get on? I just have a similar issue with my new Mutoh SC 1300… Those are basically the same machines. I’m lost and do not have a clue how to install it on my XP laptop, let alone cut from AI on it!

Frank, could you say which Roland driver would sort it out? I’m on serial connection. Would it work on serial-to-USB adaptor, maybe?
    Many thanks!

    Robert

Sorry Robert, did see your post till now.
I imagine you finally figured it out.

If its new, it should have a CD with some stuff on it.
I thought they had plug ins for Corel and Adobe, but i guess they dont.

Im on thier web site, and they have drivers and manuals and "Cut Server" available to download. You have to register, but its just so they can send you email notifications.

You can cut serial or usb. It installs as a fake com port when connected USB.
You could go File Print, or you could export as HPGL to thier Cut SErver program.
