  • So you think you have small feet?

Posted by Robert Lambie on May 31, 2007 at 6:20 pm

I was sent this by shane today and thought i had to share it with you all… thanks shane, this is pure minging mate :vomit: :lol1:

In the 10th century, in China, legend says a prince began the practice of foot binding because he loved the small "Lily Feet" of his concubine. The tiny foot became the mark of a wealthy and well-born woman.
For over 1000 years, rich women had their feet bound.

The new Republic banned foot binding in 1912, and the custom finally died out in the 1930’s.

The perfectly bound foot was only 3" long. Women who got their feet bound could not walk, run, or dance.

Foot binding began between the ages of four and seven. A strip of bandage ten feet long and two inches wide was wrapped tightly around the foot. The four small toes were broken and bent under the sole. The arch of the foot was bowed to make the foot shorter.
The bandage was tightened each day and the foot was put into smaller and smaller shoes.
In two years, the process was finished. By then, the foot was useless for walking very far.

Bound feet had to be washed and cared for daily. If toe nails grew into the instep, infection could set in. If the bindings were too tight, gangrene and blood poisoning could occur. The bound foot was painful and tender forever. It often had an unpleasant smell.

Don’t know why you thought you had to share this with all of us Robert and I won’t bother to thank you for doing so :lol1: :lol1:

Unfortunately I have quite small feet, although they were never bound. I have often wished that my feet were a bit bigger, just to help my balance honest :lol1: :lol1:

this is all very well but surely the prince must have thought this through.

I have to admit that I know absolutely nothing about foot binding what so ever but I had always thought that if it was done properly then the feet retained there original proper foot shape and were just small because they had been unable to grow as they normally would. I always thought that this sort of deformity was down to it not being done correctly.

your right to an extent martin, when i was 4 my parents wrapped a bandage through the middle of my legs and up over my head. tightening it every day just a little bit more as the days passed.

From reading romance novels I know that the sight of a bound foot to a Chinese man was a potent aphrodisiac.
    Shane sent me that too!
Here’s a pic of my tiny feet. I think they’re cute if I do say so myself!
They’re wide from walking barefoot for 44 years.
    Mom’s are even smaller.
    Love….Jill

    Funny you chose that foot…
    I was expecting:
E: ran the screen door over the toe and broke it last summer.
B: Second toe longer than the big toe, a hereditary feature in out clan known as "Welsh toes"
Mind the gap between them, I could open a beer bottle with that, and notice the discoloration across the top of the foot where my brother Kevin accidentally ran it over with a car last summer.

    We say-
This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy had roast beef, this little piggy had none, and this little piggy cried
    "Harry Cleary is a Flibbertyjibbet!"
Bet you’ve done that trick lots of times in the pub!
