Those are ‘snow brakes’…any fool can see that.

hefty fine for using chains in the UK is there not?
-
i would have thought so where there is no snow as they are then dangerous..
as i said it would amuse some

No, not at all. So long as there is actually a heavy covering of snow on the road otherwise they’ll find something to ‘do’ you for. ( eg. the tyre would not comply with minimum tread depth requirements)

They were dishing out fines £60 for not clearing ur roof snow
-
Fitting them on the driven wheels might help a bit more?

Dave I would have got a £60 fine for that then, I live in a block of flats so there’s no way I’m climbing up there to clear the snow off the roof. 😕

I heard that was just the rumour mill working overtime and although they were stopping people to get them to clear their roofs no fines were ever handed out.

Its a stupid thing to leave snow on your roof when driving, but not quite sure if the police could issue a fixed penalty for it, I wonder what the offense would be?
If they were getting a fixed penalty of £60 they would also be getting 3 points on their license.
good to hear the police round your way were not to busy with other incidents caused by the snow and had the time to to issue trivial tickets 😉

traffic police are known around here… i did spot the police waiting in the next turning, they often sit there.
Remember I do not live in Glasgow or Luton, if something happens around here we all know about it 😉
-
I know they were stopping people to get them to clear it off but the official line seems to confirm what i thought.
Were stopping people round here too.

Seems that even the tabloids ran with the myth.Well that’s my take on it.
