Hi John
I often have people in with expensive tastes and shallow pockets (not saying this is your customer) 🙄 I have made several signs in darkish grey with cream text, on composite, which are OK for house signs….
May not help but 😳

Thought you probably had, being a pro and all that! :lol1:

Slate can be "carved" on a cnc…….gilded letters or numbers look terrific on slate.
Hope this helps.

Go to your local monumental stone mason, they are usually set up for commercial engraving or sandblasting. Beware of slate if it is in a position where sticky fingers can get to it as you cant clean marks of slate.
I had ours do a few much cheaper in granite than I could do in Corian lookalikey. 😮 -
I’ve sand blasted slate berfore with great results, but it’s a horrible job so don’t do it now.
A company down this wasy do slate house signs if that helps http://www.kernowsigns.co.uk/slatesigns.html

nice link Andrew, but I would send in my own artwork for the signage, no disrespect but the guys choice of fonts and layout are not what I would say the best I’ve seen, but that’s just me 😉

I have used a local company before for slate house signs for clients http://www.buysigns.co.uk/index.htm
I have always found them to be very helpful doing bespoke stuff and have been more than satisfied with the results.

Hi John, I have done a few stone/slate signs before and just applied vinyl to it after a thorough clean. My own house sign is on a stone with Nikolite and it has been there for 7 years and just starting to show signs of weathering. Also done gold leaf on slate using vinyl as template.
Cheers
Dave
