I’m finding myself goung multiple times to double check sizes after joiners etc have been to do remedial work.

I usually take my trusty tape measure, laser measure, phone, pen & paper, quite often our sizes dong match what the trades people who have done work say.

On one particular job 2x signs over 10m wide, I can’t afford for an error.

How many site visits do you make before producing a sign?
How do you go about taking measurements, especially by yourself?

I’m currently paranoid this signs going to be 400mm to wide!

    Good topic David.
Here are a few things Ive learned:

    Measure twice cut once.
    Never trust a customer’s measurements
    Never trust a contractor’s measurements
    When in doubt go again.
Dont be afraid to look stupid by turning up a second time.
Think how you’ll look when it all goes wrong!
    Take many photographs.

    😉

    Simon.

yup take photos & sometime we video via ipad/iphone also for reference.

As Simon said – never trust customers measurements, we had issue once with an 8ft sign (measurement supplied by client)… should of been 6ft….. (He couldn’t read his own handwriting..)

    Hi George,

    Sign is just over 17m wide x 610, the second is 10m x 610.

We called up today to double check all the sizes… so it better be right now.
