Signs with warning chevrons pointing in opposite directions!
ROAD bosses have driven a woman to despair after cementing two huge traffic signs outside her house – with the arrows pointing in opposite directions. Elvira Neame, 54, was speechless when she discovered the two giant chevrons blocking her view. She said the decision to erect the signs is bizarre because they are on a straight road. And instead of improving safety, they were actually a danger because one of the arrows points the wrong way.
Silversmith Elvira, who lives in Laggan on the A86 between Aviemore and Fort William, said: “I came home from holiday, arriving after dark. In the morning, I woke and drew the curtains. “I was confronted by two large grey squares dominating my front garden. Without any consultation or warning, two enormous road signs had been planted right in front of my house.”
Scotland Transerv, who are in charge of trunk roads in the region, have apologised and removed one of the signs.
It’s the latest in a long, wiggly line of blunders by road workers. They include stopping yellow lines where cars are parked, misspelling words and wavy lines in the middle of the road.Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
