When printing on my Cadet using the Troop Rip if find colours are very similar to the screen colours I am seeing. However, if I try and print the same file using the Rip in Signlab (Signlab 7.1) the colours printed are often very different to the colours I am seeing on the screen. Consequently I have much greater control over colours when I use Troop but would like to be able to achieve the same results printing from Signlab.

Any suggestions – is there a simple setting in Signlab that I need to change (cmyk to RGB or something like that)?

    hi,

How have u got the rendering intent set in signlab…
spot colour, perceptual, relative colourimetric, absolute colourimetric or saturation?

set it to the same as in TROOP

we use troop. what version are u running?? we recently invested in an DTP 20 profiling system. Its the best kit weve everbought. Takes 15-20 mins to recalibrate media & u get perfect colour reproduction. Also u can calibrate ur screen so what u see is what u get. Great for hitting pantones.

Troops not the problem James – It’s great – what I see on screen is what I get and printing pantone colours match very well to pantone swatches.

It’s Signlab that doesn’t seem to colour match in the same way. I’m not sure what to do in Signlab to get it printing accurate colours.

Thanks for your reply Lifesigns – Unfortunately you’ve lost me 😕

it will be down to the different linearization tables & icc profiles used in troop compared to signlab. This is where a calibration tool comes in handy, so as every machine/rip is calibrated the same, producing the same colours from the same file onto same or different media.

    • Can you please contact CADlink Tech Support and get their advice?
    • Make sure you indicate to them the printer model, series of vinyl, and the ink set that is loaded.
    • SignLab is provided with comprehensive print mode support for the various vinyl types and product lines from vinyl manufacturers.
    • Your issue most likely involves choosing the correct print mode for your media and loaded inks.
    • If you have a custom setup with your media and inks, then Tech Support can help you with custom profiles.
