Signage for 5-a-side football pitches
Posted by Daniel Evans on February 8, 2018 at 5:28 pmHi everyone
Has anyone done any signs for a 5-a-side pitch?
Interested to know what you made the signs out of?
The signs will be up for at least a year then it depends then on whether they renew their sponsorship.
Thanks

Hoarding boarding with a cheap monomeric digital vinyl and laminate. I try and force them to go with a 8ft x 2ft sign so am not left with 50 million off cuts knocking about

We’ve done a few for port vale, they insisted on having correx due to the possibility of being ripped off and thrown. Won’t hurt as much as hoarding panel

We did an entire hockey rink. I was expecting hoarding boards.
Turns out its just 440gsm banner, with acrylic over the front, but they have a solid barrier round the rink.

8 or 10mm correx with monomeric calandered vinyl print.
you will get the correx sheets about 800mm deep x 3000m which minimises waste.
or get a 3000 x 2000 sheet and cut up the middle.banners are fine but they tend to sag and look poor soon after install if not on bungees or pulled taught when fitted.

When they have something fixed to mount to then 5mm foam board can give a nice result, as already mentioned 8 x 2 and get them slit in half from supplier so you just apply and go.

I’d say it depends on the kind of people advertising there..
I do a few rugby clubs who have fencing and we fit 3000×750 composite hoarding panels with a 3yr laminated print (some stay for years),
equestrian centres i usually push for composite too, keeps all the signs nice and uniform and looking smart – especially if they’ve just spent £100k with new edging and school flooring!
Min I do is 5mm foamex but do explain that after a couple of seasons they’ll possibly be replacing them due to damage – often caused but the boards going brittle and a football / rugby ball hitting them, supported leaning on them etc.

Thanks Hugh. I’ve now been informed that they need to be a banner. Has anyone sponsored these before? Get much out of it? Been told it’s £120 for the year so thinking of sponsoring it myself with a 1m x 4m banner

If you get one single customer wanting a van as a result of the advert, it has more than paid you back.
Adverts like this are more about brand/name awareness. so when someone does actually need a sign, your name is first that springs to mind. -
We’ve got a few around.
Never had someone come in and say “aww saw your board at etc”But.. 1) we continue to be the sole supplier of signage/garments/anything for these clubs.
2) they do mention us and always talk highly of us on social media etc..
3) I think it’s good to have a presence as much as you can anywhere. More people or big companies see your name the more trust worthy you become.
4) if it’s a well known local club, or even bigger, then again these being on social media or your website will help reassure new clients. I always think so anyway. If it was me looking for someone to fit signs and I saw you did stuff for Liverpool FC and then some cool Vans I’d be more comfortable. -
Thanks guys, my point exactly do I’ll think I’ll do it, as Rob said, it only takes on can to pay for it.

We have two up at the Ice Rink… you may see our banner on dancing on ice during the practice 😎 😎
Lots of Social Media coverage, the club we work with has a networking event each month, and we’ve had over £1k from that.
Whether our board has bought anything in I don’t know. Depending on the level of the club your sponsoring, it can be used to give your business some credability.
