    Sign Trim – Pricing Discussion.

i would like to start a discussion on how we price Sign trim?
by that i mean likes of panatrim or aluminum angle, even Sign Channel for the rear of road signs.

trims normally come in at 16 and 20 feet lengths…
so how do you price it out?

By the foot or perhaps add a percentage onto the cost of buying in a length?

i look forward to your replies…

I would always charge Proframe/Panatrim as a complete made up frame, and by the mtr, if over exact mtr then taken to the next.

    ie, a 2440 x 1220 frame would be charged at 8 mtrs

Sign channel I would normally buy blanks with it already on but if not would buy in and add percentage,

Ive done similar with slat sign components that come in 3m lengths. Depending on how much is left and usable for another job will determine the cost. I make this clear up front and offer the customer any ‘usable’ as spare.

we price all our trims and channel rounded up to the foot.
i would be interested to hear what sort of percentage or price if you wish to elaborate, on trim you add?

I charge £15.00 per mtr for a made up frame. With alluminium going up all the time, you need to keep an eye on costs.
( if it just crept over the mtr I wouldn’t take it to the next, anything 300mm and above I would)

If I had to buy some channel in which is rare the cost would equate to whats going to be left over, pretty much as Graeme says as the wastage can often be the profit on the job.

We price channel and angle per metre, don’t use panatrim if we can avoid it. With our usual mark up on each.

Channel has kind of changed as we use VHB and I averaged it out over a period of time and realised that we can charge £10 per mtr including tape. This includes cleaning applying tape and fitting to board. This drops to £8 per mtr if it’s a big job as doing a big run is obviously a bit quicker. This is basically to save time working out how many mtrs of tape/channel and then working out how long the application will take.

    Hope that is useful info
