This in one of my first Projection signs. Still learning a bit on materials and such. Any opionions on the construction?
I used 10mm Alumilite. Aluminum with a plastic core. Nice but pricey…($115 cost.) With Plastic Edged Cap.
Painted the panel with automotive Base Clear.
Bought the Frog print from a Wholesaler $240 for two (customer suppplied the painting, I just scanned and emailed)
Rest of the letering is avery Silver Mettalic and 2 mil Black.
Modified the $ 18 scroll bracket an fabbed the hardware myself.
    Charged 1443 for it…. For a friend.
Materials were 640 with a slight markup.. I mark up more now.
24 hours…. got 30 an hour for it.
I didn’t make a killin’…. Do you think the price is O/K for What it is?

What do you guys think? Any other suggestions for the panel? It would have been nice to give it more depth, but they love it the way it is. Just wondering for future reference.
Another sign I just made was all aluminum, 4′ x4’… 4″ square tubing welded together, with .125 faced attattched with tape, then routed and painted with urathane. Cost me about 400 in materials and took about a day to fab and paint.
Am I on the right Track?

Looks good matey. That’s a font that can easily become difficult to read, but you’ve kept it nice and clear. I might have used a simpler style for the text at the bottom, but that’s just me.

I can’t comment on the pricing, because you’re not over here, but I would think that much work wouldn’t come cheap. Those metal brackets can be quite expensive over here.

Looks great! I really like the whole look.

I think I would have used a different font on the bottom, only for visibility sake from a distance.

When we are ready for this sort of thing I will be sure to pick your brain.

Looks great Steve. I was thinking the same thing as Andy, but I didn’t want to comment before I heard it myself. I haven’t been in the industry for long (2 yrs) and working for a theme park it isn’t as competative as the regular industry. Sorry to stray off topic, but were in the states are you located? I’m in southern California (originally Wales). Thanks for sharing, everyone always gives us inspiration in one way or another.

    Thanks For the feed back.
I agree with all of you on the font on the bottom, and i suggested others, but the customer had a good preview and really wanted to stick with that.
I also did 4 pages of menus for them -(with them)- and the fonts on those are crazy…. Quite hard to read in some places, but….
    Customer’s alway right….. Right?

Any other thoughts on Material for the Panel?

Marek… I’m in East Central Pennsylvania… An Hour From Harrisburg and 2 Hours from NYC. I Drove to Califorinia once…. Takes a While…

we had an indian restaurant to do a menu board (faux-blackboard + vinyl) and they gave us the most hideous font in existance, something like… “ren & stimpy” or summat (And you thought the cartoon was bad). Turns out it was the choice of the printer they were using. 😕

Back on topic, great sign, same minor niggles about the text at the bottom, and I know the customer is always right, but is it squashed/stretched?.
