I am not aware of any specific regs George.
I have made and seen signs on posts at all heights.
Is it for some strange or specific application, like a traffic sign

We do a fair bit for our local council/car parks. They need to be 2100mm
above ground, plus rounded corners if they’re on posts.

we did a load for the council before and they are next to the ticket machines on posts and they believe me are not 2.1mtrs high they are the same height as the ticket machines which is about 5′ so bolarks to em its a bit hit and miss by the sounds of it

If they are put where people can be expected to walk underneath, i.e. edge of a footpath or over a footpath, they need to be 7′ 6". If they are in a position where they should not be walking, then it don’t matter. We put signs in the local parks and the height from the ground to the bottom panel is 1m. At this height, anyone trying to walk underneath would be classed as a pillock so we can get away with it. If Rob Lambie walked under it, he should still have a good clearance 😀

    I agree with Rob,

We used to install signs and posts for various councils, and I believe the clearance under a sign should be 2.1m if the sign is sited in an area the public would be expected to walk.

If the sign is mounted next to a ticket machine at the entrance, it does not seem like it is in a position where people should be walking, as you would expect cars to be driving past. 🙂

Do you need to put a sign on the post though? like "beware of the post hanging from this sign"? someone may walk into it whilst reading the sign!

you cant really expect the council to let you put a post where the public is expected to walk can you?

In an area where the public would be expected to walk, we would install a steel post with a sign approx 1200mm high x 600mm wide (with rounded corners), set up from the ground about 900mm, so the sign would only be a potential hazard to small kids or vertically challenged people(dwarfs)! 🙂

No offense meant to any short people out there 😀
