Have a problem with PVC boards within a large sign frame (already fitted for which we have upgraded the vinyl) however they are popping apart as PVC does. Somebody mentioned that you can get tension springs to fitted to the end frames to push the boards together. I need 3 or 4 can anyone advise where I can get hold of them.

    Thanks

I have had these springs in ready-made frames from Cherwells. They do hold the panels together but I don’t think they allow the foamex to expand and this can create a warped panel, especially on larger signs. A better bet is to use panel locks, which are like hooks that join the panels together. Most plastics companies should do these, Amari etc. Cherwells also sell them. 01280 840297

Got some to suit a panatrim frame the other day from NE plastics in Kent.
Are there any rebates between your panels, or have you got anything to stop them from flexing in a tongue and groove effect?

But if your only changing the vinyl, why should you worry?? If the guy is too tight to get new panels, and have it done properly, i would just put the vinyl up and say job done, and say to the customer “if you want a proper job, you need new panels ..

    Sorry i know that don’t help……:-?

Simon – you are right, it was just that the guy’s too tight to pay for new, daft I know but I should have walked before this job. Usual thing tho on this 50% deposit he’s not paying until I do something, despite my written confirmation to him that we recommended new boards.

    Chris,

Just glue the panels together using the backtab and industrial super glue & activator- this will cure in seconds and there is no way the panels will be able to creep. Plus

You won’t be able to get the panels out in one piece and that might be a problem but at the end of the day the punter wants locked tight joins this will do it without wasting anymore of your time on the job.

For me removeable options for panels on anything non illuminated are more hassle then they are worth.
