Sign & Digital UK, is anyone going?
Posted by Peter Cassidy on February 28, 2022 at 9:06 amJust thought i would ask if anyone is going to the exhibition this year?
It would be a crime not to as it gives us a chance to get out and see people for the first time in years. 🤣
are you going, and on what day?

Thanks for the replies everyone. i am considering the second day now.
has anyone heard of any new machines or tools we should look out for? surely something NEW must be there to see after the time that has passed. 🤨
-
I will be there but i am unsure exactly when at the moment. things have picked up for me and i am struggling to get my lunch, never mind a day away on a jolly! 😳
this reminds me i need to get a ticket!

Thursday morning for me until lunchtime. Pub, and then home on the train.
Looking forward to it. 😎 -
We will be there.
I hope to see some machines that will interest my boss! It will be good to find new suppliers.
only there for the day but i bet i could spend the full three days wondering round it. 😎 -
hi all
as this is my first sign exhibition. is there anything new or must have on my workshop that i should be looking out for?
-
Unless you are going to see something specific like a printer, cutter etc. I would recommend just wandering the halls and do not be intimidated that you don’t walk onto a stand and ask questions. Thats what the suppliers are wanting you to do, so make the most of it.
Also, get a bag and collect as many leaflets, business cards and samples as you can. it’s so easy to lose track of what you saw.
I went to the the ISA Sign Expo in Vagas in 2019. same stopry as above with my bag, but got to the point i just took photos of everything, business cards, stand names, products and even video demos i watched or products i saw. my phone backs up to the cloud so everything is stored and safe and always good to look back at for reference and contact details. -
Has anyone been yet?
I could go today but the last few times I’ve been I’ve said to myself never again, it’s the same old stuff with everyone doing the same and nothing really exciting on offer.
It’s been a while due to the pandemic so I’m wondering whether it’s worth going. I don’t need any equipment, I don’t need any tools etc, it’ll purely be a walk around looking at new and hopefully interesting things.
Who’s been and anything different this year?

i went yesterday and really enjoyed myself. seen some really interesting things and picked up a few new suppliers i didn’t know existed! maybe it is just me, but a much smaller show than i remember?

So, after all my preparation and organising I have put into getting away for a couple of days this week. It wasn’t to be! and I had to pull out of attending the show, shortly before catching my train on Wednesday morning!
in a nutshell, we are extremely busy just now and since Monday, more and more work came in whilst a few of the customers began jumping up and down to get their orders sooner than first requested. It just wouldn’t have been right on our guys if I had waved them goodbye while I go off on a trip for 2 days. albeit it is “business”🤨, nothing in comparison to what they have to get done!
That is the first Sign Show in Birmingham in 25 years that I have missed. 🙄 -

As exhibitors, how did you find the show this year?-
I’ve only been in the sign business a couple of years and SDUK was my first as an exhibitor working with Signet Sign Systems of Sweden. I enjoyed meeting people and basically showing our wares. We didn’t do the big push like some exhibitors did, who basically ambushed some visitors just to register the QR Codes/Leads. There were times when the numbers faded but overall a good show but definitely needed more exhibitors.

Good to hear, and thanks for the reply Paul.
I know of Signet sign systems, but haven’t yet used any of the products.
Good to know you are on the boards, should I need anything, mate.

Hi Rob,
Since it was the first show after COVID, It went as expected, day one was busy, day two wasn’t as busy as it should have been but still good for us, and day three was steady but dropped off early. We were lucky enough to have the only HP 800W at the show so plenty of interest and plenty of takers. We’re already down for next year,

Good to hear more positives from the supplier’s side of things, Graham.
I have always found the Wednesday to be the busiest for me, but that said, after I attend the ISA-UK annual meeting at Lunchtime, I normally spend the rest of the afternoon in meetings having “serious discussions” in the bar area, honest! 🤔🤣

I enjoy getting out for the day and having a look round.
it was definately smaller than normal and as much as there was lots happening, nothing jumped out to me as the next big thing or a must have!
