Show us your… CAR
Posted by Neil Davey on May 14, 2010 at 4:24 pmBought this last week……..17 years old and in mint condition. 😀
Just can’t decide whether to take it to France for our hols this summer
or keep to our other car, would really love to take this but might struggle to
get the bikes on it 😕Martin Cole replied 13 years, 10 months ago 35 Members · 58 Replies -

stuff the bikes! I had a 98 import MX and it was so much fun, I always miss it when the sun is shining (regardless of temp outside!)

this is a 93 imported MX Roadster 1.6 and all still original even down to the
radio cassette player.I’ve also got a 72 Triumph Spitfire that’s undergoing restoration at the mo
albeit a rather slow restoration 😀 -
Same as mine Neil only I got it in silver. Lovely car to drive feels like it is on rails. Only thing none original is number plate plinth on front and the battery as they have small gel batteries in them.

Snap Neil I also have a Spitfire which is undergoing a restoration amongst other projects which are also taking some time.
My wife used to have an MX5 fantasticJason

what kind is that peter, my uncle Jim had exactly the same car up to only a few years ago… kept in immaculate condition.
-
its a Cadillac,
it turned its own wipers on when it rained, and dipped its lights automatically.. no good in the snow though….Peter

quote Matty Goodwin:Is that you Peter or James may….?
Matty, you are in BIG trouble, that is Lynn

quote Lynn:no Matty it’s me 👿
Lynn
I would rather face Pete after Pete getting the Hulk powers than face Lynn after that post, good luck Matty.
Cars, well I have the new Megane Coupe, fair dues not a great car compared to the classics shown, but I do love the shape and its overall look.

Here’s what I’ve gone through in the last oh, 18months…changed cars every few months for a while searching for the ‘right’ one…
After all of the ‘just passed my test’ rubbish had a succession of Omega V6s (3 in a row – great cars) before dabbling in Jags for a while…
Jag XJ8 3.2
Jag XJ8 4.0 Sov LWB
Audi A8 3.7 Quattro
Jag S-type 4.0 SE
Omega Elite 3.2
Passat 1.8T (stop gap heap of crap when we got the other dog)
Omega Elite 3.2Now on an ‘economy drive’ as I can’t ‘do’ 16mpg round town any more – Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130..actually quite nice, 40mpg – just utterly powerless and rubbish FWD.
Wish I’d never sold the Sov….miss it so much. Classic styling, plenty power, silent…and all the old boys would come over for a chat!

Ive got a Opel Corsa Sedan (school car / moms taxi) Opel Corsa Pick Up (Strangely they are now called Chevrolet corsa pick-up, but the sedan is still OPEL Corsa..?) Mazda Drifter 4×4 Turbodiesel and my favourite……Land Rover 110 V8 !!
The Landy is used for Dune Driving and Camping trips only. The fuel consumption is orrible, but all is forgiven when I drop the tyre pressure to 0,5 bar and storm up some of the highest sand dunes in the world!! (In the dunes I get 2km/litre – about 5 mpg !!)
Its a 1986 model, and I had a 5 speed gearbox fitted. Tyres are nice 10.5 x 15 x 31 Cooper ST’s.
Check out the wild places I camp at. I really pity you Europeans with all the congestion and no really wild places. (Pictures taken in the 55 THOUSAND SQUARE KILOMETRE Naukluft Park, right on my doorstep!!

Yeah getting it high is the easy bit, landing it again is not so easy, it’s waiting to have some serious work as I think I may have bent the chasis, possibly as a result of that second photo, it was a hard landing!
Doesn’t go bad though for basically stock 1973 Beetle suspension.D
-
is that a competition thing Darren or just mucking about? 😮 Impressive height but the landing would be hairy

DYou can get round the black box thing by turning OFF the spell checker (spelling cow)…had the same problem.

quote Philip Houston:& mine!!
Phillip, I hate you !!
I,ve always considered the Speedster to be the most beautiful car ever built!
I’ll get round to building a replica before I die! The originals are WAYYY too expensive here.
-
Well Gert!
You may be in luck.I’m thinking of putting it on ebay.
This is the car that was produced on channel four’s "Dream Machine".
Check out youtube.com.
search dream machine porsche.
3 videos available of it being made.A motor bike rider won it after the show. Didn’t even have a driving license.
I bought it of him with only delivery miles on it.
Happy days!!Philip

I think its a horrible looking car and only a puffed up vw.

Nuffink wrong with it being a puffed up VW. ( Actually, the VW is spawn of the Porche, so in this case the egg came before the chicken….)
Another favourite of mine is the VW Carmann Ghia. Eish, I love old Beetles as well. I had an original 1963 (with 6 volt electrics) – only 60 000miles on the odo, and the (only) previous owner was a Volkswagen dealer. When I went to the UK after school, my folks sold it. I still get misty eyed thinking about that little jewel 🙁
-
Here is mine, all clean and ready for me to sign-write! It owned i in the UK, and brought it over to Canada with me… It takes me to the shops, it hauls stuff in the back, goes to the local cruise meets and car shows, And when the nitrous oxide is turned on, it is pretty quick for an old 1969 Dodge!
-
-
This is mine. Track car, works van & rapid response vehicle 😉
With the livery added:

Yes it is!!

If I could jump into any of them for the drive home it would be Jeffs Dodge van, lovely 😀

-
quote Philip Houston:& mine!!
That’s just a car that makes you smile…totally understand why people might not like it but I’m with the "I’d have one group" 😀
and Phill…The Ford Capri is just so wrong on so many angles…but still think my mums metallic purple Capri (circa 1976) was the coolest car we ever had 😳
and lastly
quote Craig Tiley:Mine 😮Craig, I bet you never have a problem getting a parking space!!!

I love the CC – One of my favourite cars of the moment 😀
-
Thanks Phill,
I love the CC too. Has all the available ‘toys’ in it. And it drives like no other car I’ve ever owned.

quote Stickerland:And the other one is my daily drive. My Passat CC.
Have to agree that Passat is a beautiful looking car, saw one the other day for the first time and wondered what it was…
……still not as nice as my Audi though
