The original plan for this job was two rows of helvetica about 1ft high running over 30 ft and a 5ft oval logo each side
Only a day was allowed to letter it out in the open before it left the yard for something promotional
Because of the corrugations this work usually requires drawing the text directly on the surface and following up with paint and brush ,a regular signwriting job but one that requires time -usually the larger the letters the better
After a compromise i managed to get this on using a more container friendly letterstyle
In hindsite the customer realises he should of had panels welded to the sides for his text in vinyl and the logos could have been painted

I would have prefered to vinyl this job but cant see how it would have been possible and still retain its readability

Surely this is one area that signwriters cant be bettered by vinyl or is it ?

    Hi Terry

Yeah it could be done in vinyl

I would have Streched the letering slightly Then laid it down as you would if you were going on a flat panel and just stick the high points down first then peel the backing or cut it between the letters and lay into the grooves
Sure some of the spacing is not 100% right but when viewed side on and back a bit it usually passes the customer test.

    you’re spot on Bob!
That’s exactly what i thought when I first read this post but you could measure the corrugations to get it exactly right!
    Cheers

Thanks guys ,but im not too convinced

As the intended text has 45mm strokes and the depth of the corrugation is about this size then each letter would have to be stretched this 45mm to look right head on over a span of 30ft thats a lot of stretching
